Great Condo

4 of 5
My friends and I enjoyed our stay at this condo, which was well maintained and clean. There are great views overlooking the ocean and the marina at El Conquistador resort. We didn't rent a car for this trip, which proved to be difficult in explaining to taxi driver how to get to this location. It's only a short walk to restaurants and a local park. Having a first floor condo was convenient for our group to access the pool easily. Enjoyed our stay in Fajardo!

Great place, great views! Highly recommended!

This apartment is ideal. We stayed for 4 days, and wish we had been able to stay longer. Marilyn was a great hostess: prompt, pleasant and reliable. Directions from the airport were clear and easy to follow, check-in and check-out was easy. The apartment is a large single room with a kitchen, a nice bathroom, and a balcony with a great view of palm trees, the ocean, and some islands (Palomino and Icacos). Clean, good bed. The building is pretty new, with a nice pool. Elevator, A/C, and wi-fi work well, and the indoor parking space is great. You drive into the garage, by the security guard, park and go straight to the elevator, which is operated with a security key. We hardly used the A/C, because the ocean breeze is perfect. Very important: because of the breeze, we did not see a single mosquito in or near the entire building all week! The complex ("Marina Lanais") is right next to the 5-star (expensive) El Conquistador resort. (It was part of the same construction project). You can go right over to their waterfront promenade, have a drink at their bar, eat at the restaurants. We did not visit that restaurant, because there are so many other great options nearby. It is about a 3 minute walk along the road to the center of Las Croabas. The walk is pleasant and safe: there are a lot of people coming and going until late at night, including guests and employees of the Conquistador. The center square of Las Croabas has a great playground for kids, several bars, restaurants, and food kiosks. This is where the kayaking trips to the bioluminescent bay leave. This is a very cool thing to do, both for the glow in the water, and for the experience of paddling through the mangrove swamp in the dark. Here you can also find a few local boat-owners who will offer to taxi you to Icacos or Palomino islands. We spent a day on Icacos, for the snorkeling. A nice variety of fish, although the reef is not in great shape. Nice sandy beaches, turquoise water. A little further up the road, or a short drive by car, you get to the Cabezas de San Juan nature preserve. They offer a trolley tour (reservations), which is well worth doing. A nature guide will take you through the various forest, swamp, and ocean front habitats, and finish with a visit to the lighthouse. Easy trips with car: Seven Seas beach (5 min). Luquillo beach (15 min). El Yunque (20 min). And the ferry terminal to Vieques and Culebra. Perfect place, we're hoping to go back.
