Tranquility

4 of 5
This apartment was close to town, but not in town and close to the airport. It was quiet, beautiful view of the marina. The apartment was spacious and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was very well equipped with the necessary appliances and utensils. The place was very neat and tidy. The cleaning lady was an absolute sweetheart. We were there a week and midweek, she gave us a fresh set of linens! They have a common outdoor area where you could barbecue and lounge around. They also had a lot of seating areas. Melissa, the property manager was very nice and helpful. It was a very pleasant stay and a place where you can return again and again. We ate at Mamacita's, El Eden, food trucks had delicious food, especially at Flamenco Beach. Zoni Beach, Flamenco and Playa Brava are wonderful beaches. You hike to Playa Brava about a mile and it opens up to this most beautiful deserted beach.

Can't we stay just one more day?

5 of 5
The place was better than expected. The kids did not want to leave the pool. Plenty of room. Well maintained. Well equipped. The owner met us at the marina and brought us to the house. We've stayed on a number of islands. This was our first time at Culebra and is now one of our favorites. It's not over developed. We enjoyed the beaches, and the food. We dined at Zacos Tacos, The Dingy Dock, and Flamenco beach.

Perfect place to stay on a wonderful island

5 of 5
Culebra is a truly wonderful place and Villa Violette is an ideal place to stay while you are on the island. The house has great views of the harbor from both the upper (where we stayed) and lower levels. It is an easy walk to town to eat and there are a couple of descent restaurants closer by if you arrive later in the day or are worn out from snorkeling or spending time on the many beautiful beaches. All the rooms are equipped with ceiling fans and when my family of five stayed in March there was no need to turn on the air conditioning because the fans and the sea breezes were ideal for keeping the house comfortable. I do admit that my wife and I did turn on the air conditioning in our bedroom on the last night in order to get a good night sleep since the cacophony of rooster calls (very charming but also a little overwhelming) had begun to take its toll after three nights. My children, however, left their windows open since the sounds didn’t bother them as much. The owner is kind enough to provide ear plugs but if you are sensitive to sound and want to sleep with the windows open you may want to bring more heavy duty ear plugs or a white noise device. The upper level easily accommodated our family of five. We didn’t cook while we were there so I can’t vouch for the kitchen equipment. A quick perusal of the kitchen indicated the house was better equipped than some I rented but that it would be good to check with the owner ahead of time if you were planning something that requires special equipment. Having rented quite a few houses over the years in a wide variety of places I can say that Villa Violette represents one of the best values in house rentals that we have rented or seen. The owner was very pleasant and easy to deal with and was extremely responsive. He provided great advice about how best to enjoy the island and where to obtain provisions.
