LOVELY BUT.......................

4 of 5
We loved the location, views, high quality of the construction along with the amazing mosaic details. The property was clean and the photos accurately depict what you get. The bed was great. Despite being told to take your own toilet paper and soap, they were furnished along with dish washing liquid. Located high on a steep hill it is extremely convenient to the nearby grocery store, airport, Carlos car rental, and town. The elevation enables terrific views (a little tree trimming required) of Vieques, the Puerto Rico mainland, and nearby Luis Pina Nature Reserve. Only a 2 night visit, we tried to pack in as much as possible touring the island in our jeep - better than a golf cart - exploring many beaches and dirt roads. The next day we got lucky with Luis of www.VIPCustomCharter.com who came through at the last minute with a delightful drop off and pick up at Culebrita for hiking, beaching, snorkeling. (Our original booking elsewhere was cancelled at the last minute offering instead a fishing tour.) Luis was terrific, we loved the boat, and it was worth a little extra to be the only ones traveling. Easy pick up at Mamacitas where the previous day we had a delicious, huge lunch that also served as our take home dinner. What a deal! Chicken fajitas for less than $10. We enjoyed our last dinner at the popular waterside Dinghy Dock. If you choose to rent this unit you should NOTE THE FOLLOWING: NO where is it stated that there is a 2 bedroom unit ABOVE which can accept up to 8 people! There were no less than 4 adults and 2 children above us. They spent most of their time on the porch having lots of fun. We, on the other hand, instead of savoring quiet, romantic evenings for 2 found it necessary to seal ourselves indoors with the a/c going in order to avoid the noise, slamming doors and conversation as if you were sitting next to them. It was quite awful actually and we would have insisted on leaving were it not for the fact we were there only 2 nights. We had one early morning noise reprieve for 1/2 hour. This property would have received 5 stars and we would return except for the dreadful noise. So if you consider renting this one, do so if you don't mind hearing others, go with a large group, or else determine that no one will be above you in the 2 bedroom listed here as property 3176498. Another great option is to rent the similar unit to this next door to the east, farthest away from the larger unit. Homeaway 3469450.

A wonderful, peaceful place...

5 of 5
It seems like the perfect time to write this review, one we've been meaning to do for some time. Why the perfect time? I type as I sit on the balcony of this lovely little cabin way up the hill, looking out at the sailboats passing by, watching raptors fly below, and listen to the skittering of tiny beautiful lizards. This is our third stay here, and we continue to love it. The views are lovely, and the entire structure is a piece of art built with attention and pure vision. The outdoor shower is a wonderful place to end a long day of sun and snorkeling, the kitchenette is a perfect size for simple meals, and the night breezes provide some of the best sleeping conditions possible. An additional plus is the spot-on WiFi service, something new to this trip (we often had trouble connecting before, but now it could not be better). Lynette is prompt with both emails and texts, and overall has been really great to deal with during our repeated visits. Book this place (except for when we want to come back, of course)!

We loved our time at the Naniqui Cottages

5 of 5
This was exactly what we were looking for. Simple, well kept, very clean and great location. You will hear the planes taking off but it did not bother us at all. We were in cottage 3 closest to the back deck on the water. We had breakfast and/or lunch nearly every day out there on the deck and almost always a nightcap each evening. There is usually a nice breeze off the water and there are two fans inside if needed. Tochi is full of great information about the island and very hospitable and attentive. I would not recommend renting a jeep as there is not much room for it. It can be done but we had a golf cart and that was perfect. Bring bug repellent as the mosquitoes will be around and do get inside the cottages. All around great value and a wonderful little place to stay when you visit Culebra. We will be back for sure to stay at Naniqui. Thanks Tochi!
