Very nice for long term stay

5 of 5
For a month long stay in this price range Mariber is, by far, the best we have stayed in. It is spacious, exceptionally well screened, clean, has an unusually well equipped kitchen, is comfortable and is in a convenient location. We like to walk so we walked to "town", to Flamenco, to Tamarindo. Alternatively, one could catch a publico to Flamenco by standing outside the airport gate, just across the street. As the airport IS just across the street, expect to hear every arrival and departure as well as the sounds of traffic. However, by early evening it is usually quiet (with the exception of Christmas week and the week leading up to it). One of the pleasant sounds at that time of year is of the horses passing as Three Kings Day approaches. To go further afield, e.g., Zoni Beach and to explore the island, a vehicle or golf cart is needed. We found the ceiling fans adequate for comfort; we did not need to use the air conditioners which are in both bedrooms and the kitchen. We enjoyed eating our meals on the screened in verandah but could have chosen to eat inside. The lighting on the verandah, and in the living room, was comfortable to read by at night, another "plus" for Mariber. We appreciated the use of the very good washer and dryer under the agreed upon terms. The owner was most accommodating and very pleasant to deal with. We certainly recommend Mariber with the proviso that you will be aware of numerous flights (small planes.)

Great choice for this quiet little island

4 of 5
We rented this fabulously sited house for 10 days in early December and reveled in the privacy, sweeping views, pool and spacious deck. It was perfect for our goal of relaxing in peace in between exploring the amazing beaches on Culebra. Each day we watched the cruise ships and planes buzzing into nearby St. Thomas and were SO thankful we were enjoying almost deserted beaches and hardly any traffic rather than congested roads and too many other people all around us. If you are attracted to the slower pace and fewer tourist attractions than other places offer, Culebra is a welcome change and a good place to have quality couple or family time together. This house works well for being away from the busier part of the island while still within a very short drive of the restaurants, stores and beaches. Not far to go! The property manager was helpful and responsive, the wifi worked well, and it was very helpful to have a phone at the house since our cellular service was absent. Very happy we chose this house and stayed longer than just a week. The 'bones' of the house are excellent, with a gracious design and spacious layout. It's not a new place by any means, and some repair and refurbishment are now due. Some floor tiles need to be replaced, pots and pans are older, furniture looks nice but you sink almost to the floor, and a few appliances are old enough to need replacement, such as the defunct blender. These are easily overlooked when you are sitting by the pool with a libation in hand and a 180 degree view, but the house could be truly amazing and more comfortable with some reinvestment. Zoni was our favorite beach, but we were glad to have done the relatively easy hike to Brava one day and would recommend that if you have the time. BIG waves and hardly a soul at Brava. Some of the directions make this seem like a difficult hike, but footing is generally good and it's never steep. You have to see Flamenco because it's so long and white, but Zoni is so much like having a private beach and so very convenient to the house.
