Wonderful dream stay for my family.

This villa has everything needed for a family vacation. Our group of 12 consisted of ages from 8-73 years. Our five grandchildren loved the pool area and beach. We had about 1 mile of what felt like private beach. Other than some surfers we had the beach entirely to ourselves. My wife and I got a 2 mile beach run/walk each day. The children and some of the adults never left the ocean or pool. The very large covered patio area (about 60 feet) with the view of the volley ball court, the dunes and the ocean was our home for most of our stay. During our week, there was never a word from them about being bored. The property was very clean and provided us with essentials to make our stay comfortable. Before arriving, I asked management to shop for use. This was accomplished without a problem. We had requested an arrival meal to be prepared for the group. Zulma was the chef in charge and we were delighted with her skill and knowledge. We used also Zulma for a large catered party and some additional dinners. She was a delight. The owner of the property was fabulous in getting things coordinated for us. She set up a musician to sing and play local music and it was a big hit. We also ask for a magician to entertain and he was surprisingly safisticted hit. All went very well as planned. The villa met or needs and management was very available. The property has everything needed. The owner of the property was fabulous in getting things coordinated for us.

My family of 11 just got back from a wonderful vacation at the villa. We ranged in ages from 1 year to grandparents. The house and grounds are beautiful and clean. Javier and Lupe thought of everything and we felt right at home. There is so much to do on the island; great places to dive and snorkel and fish, but we didn't catch a thing! We recommend the trip to La Parquera and fluorescent bay. That was awesome but be sure to go when the moon is not bright to get the full benefit. Javier planned everything and took us on the outing. Wonderful day! It was a bit long for the babies but we all had fun. Jessika, the caterer, provided a dinner and two nights we went across the street to Havana's, a new restaurant that a family from NJ just opened. (open Thurs-Sun) Prices for both were reasonable and both served excellent food! We ate dinner most nights on the roof as the sun set. Beautiful! I was a bit concerned about the winding steps but the 2 year old managed them better than I did and we kept the gates closed so our adventurous 1 year old didn't escape. Just a helpful hint, the best grocery shopping is at Pueblo's and Walgreens has a surprisingly good selection of wine! We definitely hope to return to the villa! Fabulous time! Beautiful villa, grounds and beach! And Javier and Lupe cannot be more accommodating.

Great Location with Spacious Outdoor and Indoor Living Space

        5 of 5
My husband and I spent a week at Canary Castle with another couple in June 2014. Initially we were put off a bit by the neighborhood as there are some abandoned buildings next door. Once we entered the brightly painted home, our concerns melted away! We never felt unsafe at all and came to enjoy the local neighborhood scenes. The home is spacious with lots of little nooks to gather and chat. It's filled with character and charm with varieties of art, ceramics and personal touches. But the highlight of Canary Castle is the outdoor living space. There are several layered areas of living space with table and chairs, hammocks, cushioned chaise and of course the pool and spa. Beyond that living space is your backyard - a beautiful sandy and private beach! Right down the beach is a public beach that is punctuated by cliffs and rocks where the Arecibo Lighthouse sits....picture perfect! We enjoyed the area of Arecibo due to the central location. We were within an hours drive to El Yunque, Old San Juan to the East, many different caves to the south and the beaches of Aguadilla and Rincon to the West. We explored them all and still could have done more. We did do most of our own cooking in Wanda's well appointed kitchen. However, we did go out to eat dinner at The Salitre restaurant (5 minute drive) and it was awesome! Highly recommend it...huge menu...great seafood with views of the ocean while you eat. We also had lunch at one of the little road side stands that populate route 681. It was simple fare...but very yummy..lots of plantains, empanadas, kabobs and seafood. This was our 3rd trip to Puerto Rico and our friend's first trip. It was by far our best...Thanks Wanda and Nelson for making your house our home for a week.
