This was the fourth consecutive summer that we have stayed at Shore's End cottage. Our very first impression upon seeing the place four summers ago was that the online photos, as nice as they were, didn't do the cottage justice. We were greeted and introduced to the cottage by the owners, have dealt with them directly ever since, and find them very easy and professional to deal with. Their pride of ownership has been obvious each year when we arrive to find the cottage immaculately clean, thoughtfully appointed, and seemingly unworn from the year prior. Each year the cottage has a few new improvements, like a deck extension, or upgraded furniture, as examples. The owners have a strong sense of hospitality, and it shows in the quality linens, provided beach paraphernalia, well appointed kitchen, and the state that you find the cottage and grounds when you arrive. The cottage itself provides comfort during all of the climates the island's weather can subject you to and it's large enough to stave off cabin fever should you and your family need to hunker down for a few days. The ocean is visible from east/north/west sides of the cottage, and most of your time relaxing to that scenery happens while in the living room, dining area, sheltered/screened-in porch, master bedroom, and even the kitchen, not to mention the outside decks. The bathrooms are new and pristine. The downstairs bathroom includes a tub and a shower, and combined with the ground-floor bedroom, makes the cottage ideal for someone who cannot accommodate the stairs to the second floor. An outside shower proves valuable for de-sanding feet or children. The tap-water is drinkable, tastes very good, and is without any sulfuric aroma or taste. The beach access is, at most, a five-minute doddle away for toddlers. The beach is second to none in North America and you can walk and explore east or west until exhausted. The cottage is situated on the north shore, just east of the famous Malpeque Bay, in an area known as Anne's Land - which from twenty years of personal experience vacationing on the island, is the most scenic area of the island and one of Canada's treasures. Groceries are accessible within ten minutes drive in Kensington, or fifteen minutes drive in Summerside (for long-list shopping). I'm trying not to sound like a promotional feature, but what can I say, it's a great cottage, in a great location. Book it for two weeks... one to wind down, and a second to pretend you're never leaving.
