Satisfied, repeat-customer of Shore's End

5 of 5
This was the fourth consecutive summer that we have stayed at Shore's End cottage. Our very first impression upon seeing the place four summers ago was that the online photos, as nice as they were, didn't do the cottage justice. We were greeted and introduced to the cottage by the owners, have dealt with them directly ever since, and find them very easy and professional to deal with. Their pride of ownership has been obvious each year when we arrive to find the cottage immaculately clean, thoughtfully appointed, and seemingly unworn from the year prior. Each year the cottage has a few new improvements, like a deck extension, or upgraded furniture, as examples. The owners have a strong sense of hospitality, and it shows in the quality linens, provided beach paraphernalia, well appointed kitchen, and the state that you find the cottage and grounds when you arrive. The cottage itself provides comfort during all of the climates the island's weather can subject you to and it's large enough to stave off cabin fever should you and your family need to hunker down for a few days. The ocean is visible from east/north/west sides of the cottage, and most of your time relaxing to that scenery happens while in the living room, dining area, sheltered/screened-in porch, master bedroom, and even the kitchen, not to mention the outside decks. The bathrooms are new and pristine. The downstairs bathroom includes a tub and a shower, and combined with the ground-floor bedroom, makes the cottage ideal for someone who cannot accommodate the stairs to the second floor. An outside shower proves valuable for de-sanding feet or children. The tap-water is drinkable, tastes very good, and is without any sulfuric aroma or taste. The beach access is, at most, a five-minute doddle away for toddlers. The beach is second to none in North America and you can walk and explore east or west until exhausted. The cottage is situated on the north shore, just east of the famous Malpeque Bay, in an area known as Anne's Land - which from twenty years of personal experience vacationing on the island, is the most scenic area of the island and one of Canada's treasures. Groceries are accessible within ten minutes drive in Kensington, or fifteen minutes drive in Summerside (for long-list shopping). I'm trying not to sound like a promotional feature, but what can I say, it's a great cottage, in a great location. Book it for two weeks... one to wind down, and a second to pretend you're never leaving.

Great, relaxing getaway!

4 of 5
The house was just right for our group - 3 couples looking for a "no stress" vacation. Three bedrooms and three baths gave each couple the privacy needed. The common areas - kitchen, dining, living room and outdoor deck were perfectly set up for six people to relax and not feel crowded or in each other's space. Ed's Summerside home is clean, beautifully decorated and very well appointed. He even had a chilled bottle of PEI wine waiting for us on our arrival. We were surprised and somewhat disappointed to discover that many shops and restaurants close after Labour Day, however the kitchen in this waterfront home is very well stocked. With six "foodies" who all dapple in cooking, we had no problem "dining in" for a week, making good use of the BBQ and the huge lobster pot! We enjoyed a few lunches around the island on our driving excursions. Sunbury Cove is a little out of the way, so if you are looking for city lights and night life, this is not going to be your cup of tea. However if sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee, watching the sunrise in the morning, clam / oyster digging at low tide, or enjoying a glass of wine with friends at sunset is what makes a vacation for you, then I highly recommend this lovely seaside home!

Fabulous central location

4 of 5
This spotlessly clean, well furnished apartment is right in the heart of Charlottetown, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, theatres. Breakfast in the Casa Mia is included in the room rate and is a great added-value. Everything on the menu is included from toast to a full cooked breakfast. Our flight was delayed, and we didn't arrive in Charlottetown until 2am. By the time we retrieved our luggage and grabbed a taxi to the apartment, it was closer to 3am. And there waiting to greet us, were the owners of the apartment. That was definitely going "above and beyond!" There were, however, a couple of negatives: the bedroom is located at the back of the building, overlooking the rear parking lot with truck access for deliveries and garbage pick-up. It was quite noisy, with what appeared to be daily, early morning garbage pick-up.The only other negative was the lack of room darkening window coverings. This was only an issue because the parking lot was lit with security flood lights. That meant the bedroom was illuminated too! It was so bright I could read my book without putting the bedroom light on. We did all the standard touristy things: walked the boardwalk; visited Anne of Green Gables (lovely); rented a car and drove all over the island, had wonderful seafood at the Water Prince Corner Shop; ice cream from Cows; lobster, lobster and more lobster, Rick's fish and chips in St. Peters and the Blue Mussel restaurant in North Rustico Harbour were wonderful The Olde Triangle Pub is definitely worth a visit. Food is good and the Celtic music is not to be missed. Loved every minute of out stay; we can't wait to go again.
