Beautiful bungalow, amazing water views

4 of 5
Ed & JoAnne's beautifully renovated bungalow was modern, clean, well appointed and for us a so much better option than being in a resort. We had 2 nights in an over the water bungalow in a resort (no privacy and limited view, and stuck off the main land) and 8 nights in the bungalow on the main land. We enjoyed being with the locals rather than other tourists, we were able to buy local produce and cook for ourselves, eating on the deck with spectacular views of boats, planes, islands, sunsets etc. The water is so clear we could actually spot sting rays swimming past, the binoculars provided were great too. Along with the bikes, paddle boards and snorkels which were available for our use. The internet access was great if required, we barely had the television on as we found so much else to do. We went everywhere by boat as we knew a local, but could have hired one, or hired Ed's car. Chin Lee grocery store has a van which goes past at 7am and 4pm every day, so you could order and they would bring next trip if they didn't have what you wanted. The island tour was great, saw things we would have never found on our own. Felt safe and really enjoyed swimming with stingrays and sharks, also snorkelling to look at coral with Marona from Temanava tours, highly recommended. Smaller traditional boat with less people and Marona knows all the best spots. Did the sulphur sand also on his tour. Went to a Polynesian buffet and dancing at Pearl Beach resort although we weren't staying there you were still welcome. We were able ring from the bungalow phone our host Christope at any time if we needed something or had an issue (we never needed to). Just remember, to get a view like that you have to climb the stairs to get there, good exercise and worth it. Summary for us was the location was perfect, you can stay in a resort and eat the same resort food any where in the world, but if you are coming to Bora Bora this was a much better option. Loved it. We'll be back. Thanks Ed & JoAnne.

Truly Fantastic

5 of 5
If you want to have an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora and you do not stay here or at its sister property next door you are missing out on the best bargain in all of French Polynesia. This is a large, recently renovated overwater bungalow originally owned by Marlon Brando that is located on the northwest coast of Bora Bora (about 4 miles north of Vaitape) in an absolutely beautiful location. I do not even know where to begin. Large living room that transitions into a dining area and then a kitchen---a big kitchen. Full-size refrigerator, washing machine. incredibly modern four (or was it five) glass stove top, double sink, blender, coffee machine, microwave, toaster oven, toaster and all the china, silverware, glasses, pots and pans, etc. that you could want. If I could come up with a complaint it would be that the chef knives need to be a little sharper and there should be a bread knife. That's the best I can do. Two bedrooms. The master has a queen (or is it king) size bed and is air conditioned (The only room in the house that is air conditioned, but we froze to death before we turned the air conditioning way down.). The second bedroom has two twin beds and a REALLY good fan. The bathroom has double sinks and a huge shower with both a rain head and a hand held shower. And then there is the porch. Huge. A table and four chairs. Two lounge chairs. A day bed. A dock with a ladder that can be lowered so that you walk into the lagoon (which offers good snorkeling) and an outdoor shower for when you come out of the salt water. Oh, and a propane gas grill!!!! In the living room is a TV with a dvd for movies (selection quite limited but you certainly could bring your own dvds) and music. On the porch there were fishing rods (we left a nice selection of lures as our gift to the house), snorkels, masks and fins and some great tubes for just hanging out on the water. Missing. There should be some rope to tie off the tubes to the dock although they did have short tethers. No kayaks. We cannot recommend this property too highly!!!!! It is fabulous. For 1/3 what the resorts want for an overwater bungalow you get twice what they offer. Pick up groceries at Chin Lee's or Super U for breakfast and snacks (and whatever other meals you want to fix) and definitely have a meal or three at the Bora Bora Y

Dream vacation at Marlon's Over water Bungalow

5 of 5
We were very happy with Marlon's bungalow. We found the condo to be just as described and the surrounding views were spectacular. The unit itself is well equipped and the outside deck is fantastic. We used the BBQ quite a bit and the clear ocean water surrounding the bungalow is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. We only wished that the unit had come equipped with a kayak... It is absolutely necessary to have a car when renting this bungalow as there are no stores, etc within walking distance....Car rentals are pricey so factor that into your budget. All in all, we would highly recommend any of the bungalows. Richard and Nir were great to work with and Nir was very helpful once we arrived. He provided transportation from the airport ferry and a provided a car for us to rent for the week. He also helped us with dinner and activity reservations and recommendations for places to eat and things to do. We would love to return beautiful Bora and Bora and would stay there again.
