With family living in the area we have visited the Shawnee-On-Delaware area a number of times over the last five years. We love the range of year round activity from walking along the McDade trail in the spring, kayaking the Delaware in the summer, getting lost in a corn maze in the autumn and this visit - snow tubing at Shawnee Mountain. There is a lot to explore and enjoy in the area including local pubs and shops, and even nearby towns like Delaware Water Gap, Milford, and Jim Thorpe. This visit we brought my 90+ year young mother along so we wanted to be absolutely sure our “at home” base was special. Executive Bear Retreat is a destination in itself!
Finding updated, spotless, accommodations can be challenging in this area. Executive Bear raises the bar with quality of design, customized furnishings, whimsical accessories, and lots of creature comforts. We book via VRBO/HomeAway often and have found that details make a difference - luxury bedding, plush towels, quality shower heads, well equipped kitchen, and up- to- date electronics. We arrived very late at night and were snowed in our entire first day. At Executive Bear this became an unexpected highlight – we relaxed by the raised hearth fireplace, napped on the comfy couches, watched as the snow blanketed the mountainside, enjoyed the HDTV, the speedy wireless, and diverse library of books. The experience of the architecture is more spacious than the photos suggest with generous areas to gather and enough separation to engage in different activities.
There may be lots of other bears in the Poconos but there is only one Executive Bear Retreat!
