Vintage and retro luxury! Memories to be had!

5 of 5
As a general rule with birthdays and holidays, my husband and I avoid buying physical presents for our nieces and nephews, but rather, "make memories" by doing something together - whether a one-day, overnight or just evening event. When we found the "Good Ole Days" get-a-away, we knew it would be a great Christmas present for all of us...and boy, did we score big! The kids - ranging in ages from 8-17, were so delighted with this place and Melanie's special touches that when we went into Pittsburgh to see the city at Christmas time, we left early because everyone wanted to just come "home" and enjoy the place together. What did we do during the stay? Lived. John made my mom's "blue plate special" traditional meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans and had family dinner...we peculated coffee and made cocoa and told stories, rumpused in the rumpus room, listened to records...and had a great blend of Christmas and Festivas time - oh, and always love Gabriels which is just down the road. My husband and I have traveled extensively, and we received some of the best hospitality from Melanie AND comfortable accommodations. We love that Melanie not only has honored her family in this way but has also given others a chance to feel a part of the memories - both hers and their own. We will be back...!

Fantastic Reunion Site!

5 of 5
Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Seven siblings and spouses gathered together at Laurel View Retreat for our annual sibling reunion. This was our first gathering at this location but it won't be our last. We will definitely be back. There are so many things to recommend Laurel View Retreat. Privacy. View (indescribable). Hot tub (the best). Comfortable beds. Kitchen large enough for several cooks. Comfortable seating...practically everything reclines! We were fortunate to be at Laurel View in October at the peak of the fall foliage. The house was clean as a whistle. After reading some other reviews I was concerned about that but we found everything in super condition. The only recommendation I have is that if you like to read in bed you might want to bring along a small reading lamp. Many bedrooms did have bedside lights but not all. There are many good restaurants in the area but we really didn't want to leave the property. There are two bedrooms on the main level to accommodate those who have trouble with stairs. We also enjoyed the firepit outside...a nice place to gather in the evening...nothing like the smell of a wood fire and the crackling and hissing in the dark. Looking forward to returning.
