The house is in the perfect location. We were able to walk anywhere we needed to go in no more than 20 minutes, and the neighborhood is absolutely charming. Our meeting was in the Pennsylvania Convention Center, which was a very manageable walk several blocks to the north. Fabulous restaurants are close by, and SuperFresh and Whole Foods are two blocks away.
The town home is well-maintained and has a terrific remodeled kitchen in the basement, which we took full advantage of. The kitchen supplies were slightly lacking (cooking instruments, cutting boards) but were more than sufficient for us to cook several full meals for seven. A small backyard patio featured a gas grill that was in a state of disrepair. The narrow dimensions of the house made for some occasional tight squeezes while walking up and down the spiral staircase, which spans four floors from the basement kitchen all the way up to the third floor master suite (plus "fourth-floor" loft). However, there was generally enough room for everyone to have their private space. While it is advertised as sleeping 8, there are only 3 actual beds (king, queen, and full), so several of our group of seven found themselves on air mattresses and a futon. There is an abundance of linens, pillows, and bathroom supplies, which made that a relatively easy and comfortable endeavor.
A full bathroom on the second floor was put to full use, and a second bathroom in the master suite was more limited to those staying on the third floor - it featured a comically small and impractical sink maybe four inches deep which was difficult to use for brushing teeth, etc.
By far, the best part about the house was the owner Kevin. He was personable and immediately available for questions and issues. We ran into some problems with our parking space, and he dealt with it immediately and showed up at our front door within minutes to personally make sure everything was okay. Overall, despite some small quirks inherent in a 150 year old house in Center City, the house was a terrific deal, well-maintained, and could not be in a better location. Given the great experience we had with the owner, we would definitely choose this property again for our next trip to Philadelphia.
