Beautiful home

5 of 5
This home was immaculate and beautiful. The house was spacious and well-equipped for a handicapped traveller, a real plus for us since we were traveling with my mom who us in a wheel chair. It rained part of our stay so it was a real luxury to have a large attached garage to pull right into. There are two master bedrooms with bathrooms, a great option. Beds were a bit firmer than we like, but this is a matter of personal preference and not a fault. The house is close to a good sized shopping area with easy access to a supermarket and pharmacy. It was a little distance from the areas we usually go when we visit the Amish country, but with the beautiful countryside, it was a peasant drive. Though we didn't need it, there is a huge finished basement with lots of games on hand and a tv, as well as a bedroom, and this would be a great option for families with children or teenagers. The communication and responsiveness of the owner was prompt and thorough with clear outlining of expectations surrounding the use of the home.

A Great Time, but Some Issues

4 of 5
Overall, the home worked well for us and we really enjoyed our week. Having lived in that area until 19 years ago, this was a return trip for us, our grown kids, and grand kids, to all get to see both sides of the family as well as do some tourist activities (Hersheypark, Philly Zoo, Indian Echo Caverns, Strasburg RR, buggy ride, etc.). The home had plenty of space, a great location, and more than acceptable amenities. It also offered a great backyard for the grand kids, all 8 years and under. There were 2 negative issues I must mention. There really needs to be a step put in place from the sliding glass door in the dining room to the backyard. As it stands currently, it is unsafe and uncomfortable for most adults to step down, much less children. Also, the home is advertised with central air and, indeed, has duct work throughout for it. However, there was absolutely NO air coming through the ducts upstairs. There was a window unit in the large bedroom but both the other bedroom and loft area were very warm. I called the owner but nothing was (could be?) done. In a hot week in mid-July, this makes for very uncomfortable sleeping conditions.
