Perfect Weekend Spot

4 of 5
Great little cabin to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Only an hour and a half from Philly, this cabin is one of three that is in this semi-secluded area. The Lehigh River passes right through the backyard and the screened in porch offers a great view of the running water. It snowed while we were up there, which made the fireplace and view of the river from the living room extra special. Kitchen had the essentials needed to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner and the cabin itself was clean and cozy. Plenty of spots to eat close by, as well as some convenience spots like Wawa, CVS and Dunkin Donuts. Robert Christians was recommended to us by the owner and the meal was on point. JFBB is about 10 minutes away if you're looking to ski/board and Hickory Run is about 20-25 minutes if you're looking to hike. My wife and I are definitely looking to return in the spring/summer for some fly fishing on the river. Do yourself a favor and check this historic cabin out!

A quiet, simple retreat!

5 of 5
From our first view of the charming rustic cabin, we knew we had found a perfect hideaway for a few days of downtime and unwinding, but we had also lucked into an updated and comfortable retreat. This cabin is perfect for two, provides a charming living room with a fireplace (with excellent draw for fires) and comfy seating, a cozy bedroom with clean linens and nice accessories, and a galley kitchen equipped with everything you need to prepare meals if you choose to do so. The bathroom is nicely updated, and the towels provided were quite luxurious and a welcome change from the skimpy ones often found in some hotels. Heating was fine with thermostats in each room, and hot water was almost immediate and plentiful. We thoroughly enjoyed heating up the few meals we had brought with us, coffee and quiche in the mornings, entrees from a caterer at home which we had thought to bring along so that we didn't need to go out if we didn't care to do so. There are a few bars and a diner where one could eat nearby, but it was really perfect to sit in front of a cozy fire and enjoy the quiet and company of one another. We appreciated the excellent WiFi service as well as the Bluetooth. We awoke to about an inch of snow on the morning of our departure, and the effect on the general landscape and the banks of the Lehigh River running past the cabin door left an image that will beckon us to return.
