          A Wonderful Place

          5 of 5
I'm delighted to confirm the many excellent reviews this cottage has received. Beautifully sited on a mountainside, it is tastefully furnished, clean, and comfortable. Liz was a pleasure to work with--polite and attentive to every detail. My wife and I especially enjoyed sitting on the porch glider in the morning sun and building fires in the evening. The only downside to the place we found is that because it's located close to the state road that goes over the mountain, you do hear some noise from trucks, especially when they use their Jake brakes--but that's just life in rural Pennsylvania. For hiking, we recommend heading south on the Appalachian Trail from the Route 183 intersection. At 3.6 miles, you'll find a stream that's been dammed to create a lovely (and very cold) pond just south of the trail; at 4.1 miles, you'll reach Shikellamy Summit, a great vista. We had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary at the cottage, and we enthusiastically recommend this property.

          Most Romantic Cottage

          5 of 5
We arrived the day after a pretty big snow storm - the grounds were plowed and shoveled. We had no problem finding it, despite the fact that it is DEFINITELY tucked away (in a very good way). Property Owner/Manager was awesome in not only explaining everything about our cottage, but about local eateries, places to go and an unbelievable education on the historics of the villlage! We truly enjoyed listening to both him and his Mom - we were lucky enough to meet her too! Even when just in the planning stages, he recommended "the most romantic restaurant" and supplied the information for contacting them. He was so right! We were celebrating a wedding anniversay and it was just perfect for the occasion. For those reluctant to drink and drive, the restaurant was about a 3 minute walk (even with snow on the ground!) from our cottage! I told him (and I meant it), we intend to come back and catch the other 3 seasons there! It was just wonderful... All the comforts of home in the cottage, even things you wouldn't expect: a Keurig, K-cups, a supply in the bathroom of items you might need (cotton balls and q-tips), shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer! (Who thinks of these things? He does!) I may have packed "my own" things, but it was great to see things like that there in case I forget something in the future. He also gives you his number and tells you not to hesitate to call for anything you might need. To answer the "standard" questions: Yes, I would recommend this to any single or couple look for some peace and quiet, tranquil time. The description was very accurate yet, still did not tell you about all the little touches that were so special. The description conveys the romance of both the cottage and the village, yet somehow, it's even better than you would expect! Excellent customer service, could not have been better! We loved the nearby restaurant for a very romantic dinner (okay, actually 2 because we loved it so much)! We spent 5 hours walking around the nearby shopping village to burn off the wonderful breakfast at a local restaurant in Stockton. We enjoyed the Stockton Market (indoors) as well. We cannot wait to return...
