A Wonderful Place

5 of 5
I'm delighted to confirm the many excellent reviews this cottage has received. Beautifully sited on a mountainside, it is tastefully furnished, clean, and comfortable. Liz was a pleasure to work with--polite and attentive to every detail. My wife and I especially enjoyed sitting on the porch glider in the morning sun and building fires in the evening. The only downside to the place we found is that because it's located close to the state road that goes over the mountain, you do hear some noise from trucks, especially when they use their Jake brakes--but that's just life in rural Pennsylvania. For hiking, we recommend heading south on the Appalachian Trail from the Route 183 intersection. At 3.6 miles, you'll find a stream that's been dammed to create a lovely (and very cold) pond just south of the trail; at 4.1 miles, you'll reach Shikellamy Summit, a great vista. We had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary at the cottage, and we enthusiastically recommend this property.

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!

5 of 5
My daughter and I had such a good time at the apartment we were sad to leave. The owners literally welcomed us with open arms and we can't thank them enough for allowing us into their wonderful home. The apartment is at the rear of the house and has a private deck which we made very good use of. The apartment is small but feels bigger as it is on two floors. It is very clean, incredibly comfortable, very well stocked (including both the kitchen and bathroom) and totally relaxing. Definitely one of the best rentals I have ever stayed at and I can't wait to go back! Thank you! :-)

Clean and ready for us

4 of 5
We were pleased to walk through the front door into a cool, clean house on a warm and humid day. The neighborhood was OK. We were close to main streets so access to highways was OK. Fully equipped kitchen and plenty of luxury linens. The only downfall was the fact that the .5 bath was in the basement and full bath with both a shower AND bathtub (which was very nice) was on the second floor made it hard for someone with mobility problems, like me, to continually climb the stairs to use the facilities. The one inch mattress really doesn't fit the 'sleeping arrangements' as stated in the basement. Other than that, we'd highly recommend the house. If you have no accessibility problems and don't need the sleeping futon and mattress, this is definitely a great house for you!!
