Stunning and Welcoming Farm House

5 of 5
A group of 9 plus 2 pups stayed at the Farm House for 2 nights. We were in town for an event in Carlisle at the Army War College. The Farm House was perfect! Easy drive into the downtown and a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle. Sandy and Jay are wonderful host and no detail was overlooked. We were greeted with fresh baked cookies and champagne on ice. A perfect start to a memorable weekend. The house is beautifully decorated and was loaded with the touches of home. Looking forward to finding an excuse to come back and visit Carlisle again and stay at the Farm House.

Even More Gorgeous Than Pictured!

5 of 5
We could not believe our good luck when we drove up to Meadowlands Farm! A sparkling, pristine, renovated farmhouse, situated on a beautiful grassy corner with an old iron bridge over a bubbling creek, and a barn thrown in for good measure! Mary, the owner, was even there to welcome us and make certain all was in order. The purpose of our visit was to visit our youngest son who was attending the War College, and was slated to get a major promotion. So the entire family turned out for his "wetting down" ceremony which was held in one of the charming pubs in Carlisle, following the ceremony which was performed at the War College. But......back to the Adams' lovely rental property! Mary and Mark have done a superb job bringing this house back to life. We loved the decor which was a combination of some new comfy sofas and chairs, and some beautiful old family antiques. The entry thro the side door gave us immediate access to a cozy family sitting room adjoining the new, modern kitchen. I particularly loved the views as I sat on the sofa next to the gas fireplace (remote controlled). This room was just off the master bedroom and bath, which also had wonderful, large windows with attractive views. The other 3 bedrooms and baths are on the second floor. The dining room adjoins the kitchen and is very large and beautifully furnished with antique pieces. On the other side of the center hall was the formal parlor, again handsomely outfitted with a combination of new, comfy upholstered furnishings plus antique and famly items. Many old family portraits and other art objects were utilized in the decor. The bedrooms were all lovingly furnished and each room had an interesting motif and some cherished linens and quilts. Our granddaughter fell in love with the "cowboy" room, and particularly loved all the books and puzzles she found to keep her amused. Everyone reported the beds to be very comfortable; I drew the MBR, and I can attest to the fact that I slept like a log! I also appreciated the comfortable armchair next to the window, and the roomy closet and dresser space. The bath was lovely......a humongous walkin shower and lovely bath linens. Mary thoughtfully left us some local fruit, and some wine, and my husband was delighted to find a cold beer in the fridge, too! Although we did most of our cooking at "home", we appreciated reading the recommendations that the owners had compiled in booklet form for us in the event we wanted to go ou

Thanksgiving Weekend 2014

5 of 5
We stayed in the Glass Gable (south) for the Thanksgiving Weekend with friends from Ohio. As we are from Long Island, NY it was a great half way point to meet. The house itself is beautiful. It is beautifully furnished, well stocked with all the necessary items we needed, and was even decorated inside and out for the holiday season. Even with seven people in the group, we had plenty of room for everyone and there is plenty of space to have privacy if needed. We had a small issue with the wifi that Diana responded to promptly and she was courteous and very welcoming allowing us to arrive early due to a snowstorm. We enjoyed the proximity to town, dining, shopping, and a local movie theater. Gettysburg was less than a half hour away and is a must see destination if your in the area. We all enjoyed our weekend very much and highly recommend Glass Gables to all.
