So first of all, let me start by saying that I looked at hundreds of properties on Homeaway for a getaway with a group of friends. This trip was going to be just the guys, and we were looking for a place that was remote and secluded, but still a decent property and house. We scratched off property after property because there was something about it that didn't quite meet what we were looking for.
So if you're looking for: a quiet and relaxing property + a nicely kept, updated, clean house + river and lake access for fishing or tubing, this is your place!
The pictures do NOT do the outdoor space justice. The fire pit is HUGE. The speakers play through the whole area. The landscape itself is great and the surrounding area is beautiful. We had room to set up various outdoor games here and there. The outdoor kitchen is awesome and I imagine even more useful for a group bigger than ours (9 people). We did use it all weekend, but you can probably feed twice our group with both kitchens going.
When he says the house is fully stocked, it really is. We could have gotten away without bringing half of what we brought. We left all the extras behind as it seems the people before us did to pay it forward (paper towels, coffee, that sort of stuff). The rooms themselves are all well furnished and have a great feel to them. Bathrooms are cool -- big stone showers.
Last thing I can think to review is how helpful Bill was from start to finish. He got back back to me right away about getting the paperwork going, he kept in touch as I emailed him questions, then when we were there he called to see that we got in okay and told us to call with any questions. We did the next day, and he told us all about how to access the creek and lake. I've rented before around the east coast without ever getting even an email from the owner. He said to me that this house is more than just a rental property to him, it's a place he loves being. You can tell.
So like I said before this was for a guys weekend. Honestly we weren't looking for something this nice, it was the remote area and lack of any close civilization that drew us here. It was a 4 hour ride (give or take) from south Jersey, and still worth it for a 3 day weekend. I think you know what I mean when I make this difference, but our plan is definitely to go back in the future and to bring the ladies and kids with us. It's the kind of place that's perfect for either type of trip.
