INCREDIBLE HOME!

5 of 5
After having some time to reflect on this past weekend, I wanted everyone to know this home was PERFECT! It was clean, well stocked, set in a BEAUTIFUL location, and the home owners went above and beyond the call of duty! I traveled with my collegiate vocal studio for a competition and there was plenty of room for all of us! I especially enjoyed that the master suite was well separated from the other rooms by an entire floor offering me privacy, but still keeping us all connected. We enjoyed the GORGEOUS views of the fall leaves and the distant city lights from the many decks while watching the golden leaves in the back yard fall from the trees. The walking path behind the house was easy to access and enjoyed by several in our large group. The college students also enjoyed the access of technology with easy access to wi-fi and many televisions throughout the house, all were satisfied with their ability to relax with some television and fooseball and/or do homework in a quiet spot away from everyone. The bathrooms are sufficient for a large group getting ready (lots of room for beautification without taking up anyone else's shower time). We always get a home when we travel to help accommodate our varied eating habits and the kitchen did not disappoint! We shared wonderful meals with plenty of room for all of us to eat together at the table and enjoyed dessert and wine on the deck afterward. The bedding was more than adequate and students reported very comfortable sleeping arrangements and there was more than enough room for everyone. I can say that the master bedroom in the upper suite was incredibly comfortable and I REALLY enjoyed being able to watch the night sky out of the large windows high up in the vaulted ceiling as I fell asleep. I also must say that the home owners were available and accessible! The morning of the opera, we couldn't find the iron and within minutes, they had brought us one (along with another bag of toilet paper even without the request)! I would HIGHLY recommend this newly listed rental as these homeowners have done an AMAZING job of renovation and have paid special attention to details of comfort and convenience. I know that our group will be back!! Thank you, homeowners, for an incredible weekend in your beautiful home!

Definitely home away from home!

5 of 5
My friend and I visited Portland and felt fortunate to have found this wonderful rental. It was so clean, well-appointed and furnished with all of the necessities. The location was convenient to public transportation. And Portland has great public transportation - safe, clean, frequent. The backyard was a peaceful oasis. It was great to have access to a washer & dryer. As mentioned in other reviews, there are several restaurants, coffee houses and bars close by...within 2 blocks close. (Be sure to try Toro Bravo! It was our favorite meal, beating out Le Pigeon...which was sad as Le Pigeon was 4x the cost. But, hands down, Toro Bravo won the food contest!) Julie and Rocio were wonderful to work with. I appreciate their consideration and their availability for questions and information. The house is a GREAT, comfortable bargain. I'd like to trade my apartment in SF for it! I look forward to staying here again on my next visit to Portland.

Clean, comfortable, quiet, some problems getting out and in

4 of 5
Stayed for about five days with a small child. The condo is pretty safe for children, and there are high spots to move things for curious fingers. It was quite clean, all linens and bedding are comfortable, appliances work great, and the noise level is low. As others have mentioned, the river view and direct access to the bike/pedestrian path are very pleasant. I loved having coffee and watching the sun rise. It's hard to understand the negative reviews below about cleanliness, towels, etc. We saw no such problems. The caution is that families with substantial strollers/gear, people with limited mobility, or solo travelers might have some difficulty. The easiest and fewest-steps method to reach downtown is the bike path to around Davis street. At night, that means going through dark isolated areas and under bridge underpasses, which is not particularly safe when alone. The more direct routes are a pedestrian overpass around Irving or 2-3 flights of stairs up to the bridge at Lovejoy. Both can be done with a stroller or wheelchair, but with a lot of shoving and waiting for elevators. The kicker is the condo community. At 11 pm, gates roll shut and close off all access except for a single point far at the other end of the complex (and not near any of the downtown access points). Catch a late show or linger over dinner and the only way back in is to crawl under a fence. For me, that was just unpleasant. If I were in a wheelchair, I'd have literally been locked out for the night. The access issues are not under the owner's control. Everything she had control over was great. They are, however, significant and worth considering. If you are able-bodied and not wheeling anything, this is an excellent bargain.
