Clean, affordable, friendly home away from home.

We could not have been happier with our beautiful home away from home on our all too short trip to Portland. A gorgeous house, lovely yard and a great neighborhood. To be honest we were not sure what to expect when we arrived, but we were very happy with our arrangements. The photos in the listing do not do the place justice. A fantastic layout, nicely decorated (like one would expect any less from a designer) and a stellar book collection! Had all the amenities we could possibly need, full kitchen, washer and dryer. It nearly goes without saying that the house and property was very clean and well-maintained. unfortunately the stretch of weather we encountered did not allow us to take advantage of the yard and west and east facing decks. The location was great, smack dab in the middle of Portland and right between The Pearl and Alberta Arts District. Not that one should overlook the very cool Williams Ave. itself. Don was a consummate host. His office was right next-door, though we only saw him when we arrived and the morning we departed. He did text me twice during our stay just to check in to make sure everything was going well and to suggest a couple of things to do on one particularly rainy day. The bakery just on the corner was very good as promised. Don had left us an olive bread that disappeared very soon after our arrival. And my first meal was a deadly burger from the adjacent restaurant. We would definitely stay there again and I have already mentioned to friends and relatives that, should they plan a trip to Portland, this place is a near perfect stay. There were only a couple of minor suggestions the group had for Don. We were traveling with kids, so although all the dishes and glassware were very nice, they were not sturdy enough for the clumsy hands of those working on their fine motor skills, we hit a patch of rain and some house umbrellas would not have gone amiss and we had no idea how to work the TV/DVD set up (but really, are you on vacation to watch TV or drink amazing craft beer and visit with friends?) All said and done, we can't thank Don and his beautiful home enough for facilitating an awesome Portland experience.

INCREDIBLE HOME!

5 of 5
After having some time to reflect on this past weekend, I wanted everyone to know this home was PERFECT! It was clean, well stocked, set in a BEAUTIFUL location, and the home owners went above and beyond the call of duty! I traveled with my collegiate vocal studio for a competition and there was plenty of room for all of us! I especially enjoyed that the master suite was well separated from the other rooms by an entire floor offering me privacy, but still keeping us all connected. We enjoyed the GORGEOUS views of the fall leaves and the distant city lights from the many decks while watching the golden leaves in the back yard fall from the trees. The walking path behind the house was easy to access and enjoyed by several in our large group. The college students also enjoyed the access of technology with easy access to wi-fi and many televisions throughout the house, all were satisfied with their ability to relax with some television and fooseball and/or do homework in a quiet spot away from everyone. The bathrooms are sufficient for a large group getting ready (lots of room for beautification without taking up anyone else's shower time). We always get a home when we travel to help accommodate our varied eating habits and the kitchen did not disappoint! We shared wonderful meals with plenty of room for all of us to eat together at the table and enjoyed dessert and wine on the deck afterward. The bedding was more than adequate and students reported very comfortable sleeping arrangements and there was more than enough room for everyone. I can say that the master bedroom in the upper suite was incredibly comfortable and I REALLY enjoyed being able to watch the night sky out of the large windows high up in the vaulted ceiling as I fell asleep. I also must say that the home owners were available and accessible! The morning of the opera, we couldn't find the iron and within minutes, they had brought us one (along with another bag of toilet paper even without the request)! I would HIGHLY recommend this newly listed rental as these homeowners have done an AMAZING job of renovation and have paid special attention to details of comfort and convenience. I know that our group will be back!! Thank you, homeowners, for an incredible weekend in your beautiful home!
