Back for our 53rd Wedding Anniversary

5 of 5
This is the 4th consecutive year that we stayed at Walt and Vicki's spectacular Ocean view home. First class is the best way to describe the experience.......from the owners to the accommodations. Almost everything you could possibly need is stocked in the house---- towels; linens; kitchen ware; games; CD's; DVD's; computer with printer; WIFI; binoculars and even a telescope to see the sea life up close. The kitchen is so well stocked your never going to want to leave--- all you need to do is bring your own food. The ocean is right in front of you and once again we saw whales passing by (11 this trip) plus frisky Sea Lions. The Coast Guard entertained us as they performed practice maneuvers in plain view. If you are a regular here, check with Walt for an update on what is new since your last visit. He is an awesome guy and can point you in the right direction.

Amazing view, amazing stay, but....

4 of 5
Three sisters, our families, and our parents stayed here over father's day weekend. The other reviews are all very accurate, the place is amazing, but there are some important factors that I wanted to make others aware of as one is a fairly significant safety issue. Our group included four children aged 11 and under and one toddler. Each floor has very high ceilings, and by the time you reach the top floor you are VERY high off the ground. Neither of the doors on the two upstairs master bedrooms have locks. On a sunny day the top floor gets very hot with all of those gorgeous windows. The style of doorknobs are the lever style, and our just-turned-two year old figured out how to open them on her own in no time. There are no child safety devices available on ANY of the upstairs windows, and with doors that don’t lock this is a recipe for disaster- as we nearly experienced with our toddler. I’d ask the owner to please explore options for adding doors that lock, and adding child safety devices to the windows, as child window falls are more common than you’d think and completely preventable. Plus, this place is otherwise so family friendly I am sure that they get lots of kids staying there. The only other points of note were the slightly lacking kitchen (well worn silverware, dishes, glasses, and no slow cooker), a coffee maker that kept inundating our coffee with grounds, only one DVD player that we could locate and it was not blu ray, and the bedding arrangement downstairs is slightly different than what is stated here on the VBRO website. This website alludes that the downstairs beds may be sofa sleeper beds, but they are in actuality very comfy regular style beds. The distance from the sand ended up not bothering us at all, and other than the window scare that kind of ruined the first day we really did have a lovely time in this stunning home. Our family will probably stay here again and just prepare for stay a little differently.
