Beautiful home with character

5 of 5
It was a girls' long weekend away with an adventure on Put-in-Bay. The house has 5 bedrooms really and 4 bathrooms, so there was plenty of room for all eight of us. Large windows provide great views and lovely breezes. It was a short distance (12 -14 minute walk) to the Jet Express. Everything was very clean. Patios and decks provide extra outdoor spots to gather, but our favorite was the front porch where we ate hors d'oeuvres and enjoyed cocktails. The real beds (enough to sleep 10 if there are 2 to a bed) are very comfortable and each bathroom has a hairdryer and a mini fridge. There are window ACs and fans and lots and lots of glasses for wine, margaritas, and creme de menthe parfaits. The big dining room could seat us all, but this trip we preferred to eat out. It is down the street from the hospital, so there were a lot of sirens at night, trains that barrelled by and what sounded like church bells every hour. Turns out it was city hall! All those noises did not bother us one bit. Great place for a large gathering.

We travel a lot. My sons have been in hotels in Belgium, B&B's in Ireland, and rooms above pubs in The Netherlands. When we got home from this house an hour ago, my youngest came to me and said, "I am homesick for the lake house, Mom. I want to go back." We booked this wonderful house to view the Bicentennial celebration of the Battle of Lake Erie. My parents, and my husbands parents were scheduled to join us. At the last minute, my sister-in-law and her husband and daughter from California were able to re-arrange a flight, and swing by for an evening. This house held us all, and we could not have been more comfortable. We gathered on the deck and had plenty of room to sit and talk while watching the waves roll in. My husband named it: The Infinity Deck. If you are seated, you only see water...no land at all. Amazing. The three bathrooms were good sized, and even with all those people, we had hot water. This was perhaps the most well stocked condo I have ever been to (and that is saying something). The dishes were plentiful, including huge bowls to hold fresh fruit and to marinade fresh veggies for the charcoal grill. The decor was classy beachy- not garish in any way. It was soothing, and calming, and made you really feel like you were instantly on a beach vacation. There were extra bath towels, and plenty of comfy sheets. And the beds! The hide-away sofa has a memory foam mattress. And there were two roll-a-way beds. And plenty of space to set it all up when we finally dragged ourselves away from the view to sleep. The next day, we ate cinnamon rolls while watching the Tall ships sail from the Port Clinton pier (so close you can walk to it). We saw some of the best fireworks we have ever seen, and to top it all off...an air show was going on, and my history-teacher father and history-loving father-in-law were treated to the multiple flights of B-17 bombers flying right over the house. At some point we remembered there was a pool four houses down, so we spent hours swimming in a great, clean, comfortable pool and whirlpool. There was a covered area with a full fireplace, and people were lighting fires and relaxing poolside. I am not sure what else I could say. The beach itself was covered in mud(as natural bodies of water are sometimes), and it didn't put even the slightest hitch in this amazing vacation condo. I enjoyed talking to the kind owner, and I am hoping I can stay there again. Thank you!

Port Clinton Getaway

This condo was just as shown in the pictures and described. It is situated such that there is a row of condos between it and Lake Erie, but there is a view of the lake out of the living room window. It is very well-maintained and clean. Every detail has been addressed, including a welcome gift basket filled with local treats. It really was like entering into our own home and having everything we needed. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen has ample room for preparing and serving meals, and it is well equipped with everything, including spices. The weather cooperated for our weekend away, and we were able to enjoy Put In Bay one day, and the Maritime Museum in Sandusky and a walk along the shore on another one. At PIB we traveled about on a golf cart, taking in the sights of the island. The view from the top of Perry's Monument was definitely worth the admission and the rangers were very interesting and helpful too. The Heineman's Winery tour was not worth going on, their crystal cave tour was short but fascinating, and we liked their grape juice better than the wine when we had samples. We had lunch at T&J's Smokehouse, and it was ok at best and pricey for the quality. The Maritime Museum was a surprisingly good find. Pattaya Restaurant across the street from the condo was very good for Thai food, but the sushi wasn't as good. There is a grocery store practically across the street as well which was convenient. The owner is professional and communicates clearly and timely. She even sent an email when we returned home regarding something we had left behind which had been found by the housekeeper. This was our first experience at renting a home, and it definitely gives us confidence to do it again! Thank you, Pat, for making your home available for our family's weekend vacation.
