There are two cabins on this property, both of which feature beautiful, comfortable furniture and decorations that make them feel like a gracious home rather than a rental. Definitely more high-end than the typical kitschy "lodge" look or indestructible "This-End-Up" furniture you associate with rentals! The beds were comfy and the bedding was beautiful. The bathrooms are well-appointed, as was the kitchen. Lots of comfy places to curl up with a book and read or relax--especially the hammock or fire pit outside. There is a small bar-height table for 4 in the kitchen of the main house; for larger meals, we ate at the table for 6 in the smaller cabin. Also a perfect table for board games. There is one TV in the downstairs master bedroom of the main house, and a large TV in the "media area" of the smaller cabin; both are nice, new flat screens. There's also a DVD player in the media room and a bunch of good DVDs. Our kids (18, 20 and 23) enjoyed the hot tub on the back porch. There are two large ponds stocked with fish in the front yard--for younger kids, the fishing would be fun because the fish are close to the surface and tripping over themselves to be caught. Both cabins were impeccably clean. The owner, Matt, was very nice to deal with and extremely helpful. When we arrived, there were lights on, music playing and a little welcome gift of snacks, which we appreciated. Previous renters have said there were problems with the adjacent properties--we did not have any issues with the neighbors. There are some less-well-maintained properties near it, but they weren't offensive and you can't really see them from the property. What you can see, however, is Rt. 33, which runs right parallel to the road the cabins are on, and you can hear it, mainly in the front of the property. But inside the cabin, you really can't hear the road and with music or the lively fun of a family, it's hardly noticeable. In addition, its proximity to Rt. 33 makes it easy to find, quick to access, and quick to get to other areas, such as the nearby caves, state parks and towns. Lancaster is only 20 minutes west on 33; Athens is about 1/2 hour east on 33. Logan is a 10-minute drive, with a Kroger and a Walmart nearby. Personally, I liked that the property was less remote because we were busy most days and the back roads are winding. We did all the nearby parks/caves--loved Ash Cave the best. Favorite restaurant was Millstone BBQ--the food was great! All in all, we had a great time!
