Perfect retreat

5 of 5
Beautiful Home. Stayed for a long weekend with my brothers, and had a perfect time. Donna and Gary are great host's. Had a blueberry crumb cake on the counter when we arrived, and Donna was nice enough to offer us some of her farm fresh eggs which were wonderful. There is a nice pond out past the deck, and the views towards the back of the property are wonderful. The house has everything you need, and the beds were very comfy. We have already made plans to return in the spring with the rest of our families.

Fabulous family and friend celebration

5 of 5
From the moment we showed interest in the Golden Bear Lodge we were pleased. Jesse was exceptionally helpful and quick to answer any and all questions. After researching many Ohio locations, including Hocking Hills we found this to meet our needs. Little did we know at the time they would go above and beyond all expectations. Spacious and comfortable with a feeling of high class accommodations. We traveled with 8 adults and 9 children, 7 of the 9 children were girls under the age of 5 so we were a little nervous, however there is something for everyone! The girls enjoyed the cubbies in the bedrooms as their secret hideouts and the boys spent hours building a fort in the woods. Our children enjoyed fishing and playing at the pond as well as riding bikes, playing sports games, and using the indoor video arcade games. This was truly a vacation from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, peaceful and serene with the luxury of a five star hotel we were beyond satisfied. The kitchen is fully equipped with any and all necessary cooking items with a table large enough to hold our group of 17. The bathrooms and bedrooms were spotless. We have been telling everyone about this secret just one hour and thirty-minutes north of Columbus. We plan on returning next year and continuing our friend/family tradition.

Cozy Home - Great for Groups!

4 of 5
Rented this house a few months back when I was in the area for a family reunion. We stayed there with a few others also in from out of town. Is it a 5 star hotel? No. But….It is spacious and clean and it only took 24 hours and we were all rather charmed with this old country place. Parts of the home (mainly the ground floor) have been nicely renovated and cleaned up more than others. I spoke to the owner at length about some of issues that we found (also noted in a previous review) and Kathleen welcomed the feedback and was quick to address these problems. She also enlightened me to the history of the house and how it’s been a proud work in progress for them and that upgrades are ongoing. The bottom line is, this IS a very old farmhouse and if you like old houses and the character that comes with them, you’ll enjoy this place. For a group vacation such as ours, we really did appreciate having a home to rent over separate hotel rooms. It allowed family from distant places to hang out, utilize a common kitchen and we had plenty of room to stretch out and relax between the house, the porches and the yard. I may be back in Ohio for a wedding next year. If so, I would definitely look into this house again.
