My extended family recently gathered for our yearly get together at the Azalea House. Before the arrival date the owner was very helpful in getting all the info we needed and processing the paper work for our stay. Anyway, I arrived to the home first and was pleasantly surprised by the landscaping. The front is pretty with a nice porch -- an excellent spot for that morning cup o' joe. The backyard is large enough to set up a badminton and corn hole set and also has trees for shade. The church across the street was a nice surprise not because we are particularly religious, but the bells chime beautifully through the day. The area is quiet and within walking distance to downtown Sugarcreek.
As for the inside, I smiled as soon as I walked in because it reminded me so much of my grandma's home in North Canton OH. It was very clean and well stocked with most of what we needed to keep 8 people overnight. The bedding and towels were freshly washed. The cabinets had plates and silverware. The wireless was fast. The kitchen was good sized with cooking and fridge space for breakfast and cookout preps where we hosted the rest of the family that lives in Canton and Massillon (12 to 14 people). I could go on and on.
The only drawback to the home is the lack of a bathroom on the 2nd floor. Those sleeping in those rooms either had to use the bathroom in the Master Bedroom or go to the finished basement and use the one there. A bit inconvenient, but with a close family it ended being a non-issue.
I could go on... but the short and sweet is: we were comfortable, the area is beautiful and our yearly get together was a complete success!
Oh two more things-- Park Street Pizza rocks! and the Dutch Valley Restaurant's breakfast buffet is top notch and surprisingly reasonable.
