Truly Fantastic

5 of 5
If you want to have an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora and you do not stay here or at its sister property next door you are missing out on the best bargain in all of French Polynesia. This is a large, recently renovated overwater bungalow originally owned by Marlon Brando that is located on the northwest coast of Bora Bora (about 4 miles north of Vaitape) in an absolutely beautiful location. I do not even know where to begin. Large living room that transitions into a dining area and then a kitchen---a big kitchen. Full-size refrigerator, washing machine. incredibly modern four (or was it five) glass stove top, double sink, blender, coffee machine, microwave, toaster oven, toaster and all the china, silverware, glasses, pots and pans, etc. that you could want. If I could come up with a complaint it would be that the chef knives need to be a little sharper and there should be a bread knife. That's the best I can do. Two bedrooms. The master has a queen (or is it king) size bed and is air conditioned (The only room in the house that is air conditioned, but we froze to death before we turned the air conditioning way down.). The second bedroom has two twin beds and a REALLY good fan. The bathroom has double sinks and a huge shower with both a rain head and a hand held shower. And then there is the porch. Huge. A table and four chairs. Two lounge chairs. A day bed. A dock with a ladder that can be lowered so that you walk into the lagoon (which offers good snorkeling) and an outdoor shower for when you come out of the salt water. Oh, and a propane gas grill!!!! In the living room is a TV with a dvd for movies (selection quite limited but you certainly could bring your own dvds) and music. On the porch there were fishing rods (we left a nice selection of lures as our gift to the house), snorkels, masks and fins and some great tubes for just hanging out on the water. Missing. There should be some rope to tie off the tubes to the dock although they did have short tethers. No kayaks. We cannot recommend this property too highly!!!!! It is fabulous. For 1/3 what the resorts want for an overwater bungalow you get twice what they offer. Pick up groceries at Chin Lee's or Super U for breakfast and snacks (and whatever other meals you want to fix) and definitely have a meal or three at the Bora Bora Y

The ONLY place to stay. YOU won't be disappointed

5 of 5
Four of us (two couples) met the owner and she is delightful. She gave us tips and ideas for the area and was spot on. Easily found this lovely gem with her great directions. The house was very clean and orderly but comfortable. The Thermal Hot Pool was wonderful especially after a full day of activities. Every amenity possible was available and we used them. Great refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, all the utensils, cookware, dishes one could possibly need. We cooked many breakfasts in and many dinners. Great having a gas grill to cook freshly caught trout. The bedrooms were small but the beds were very very comfortable with lovely linens. The shower was big and had great water pressure. So nice to have washer and dryer. Even a clothes line if you wanted to hang your clothes to dry. Plenty of starter supplies for your needs. Local stores well stocked, nice butcher shop in town, Farmer's Market on Saturday, golf nearby and it was a lovely course. Convenient location for side trips to Napier, close to Huka Falls. The view from the living room and outside picnic table was to die for with fabulous sunsets; different every night. One can see why their family enjoys spending holiday at this home. Lots of books and brochures to browse. Lots of opportunity to fish, hike, explore, and close enough to drive to glow worm caves and thermal spas. This location could not have been better. Wifi was available as was a nice flat screen TV. Very open feeling of place with lots of light and beautiful grounds both in the front and back. Not to mention the very convenient parking right out side the door. The area was particularly quiet. Heather was wonderful in responding to any questions we had during our planning stage and was very accommodating. She was prompt in her responses and offered suggestions. If I could dream again of coming to Taupo I would stay here as it felt like "home" and was easy. Our stay was eight nights and it was much too short. Book your stay here and you won't be disappointed.Aloha Heather and Mahalo for a wonderful stay. * Submitted: Apr 19, 2014 * Stayed: Mar 2014 * Source: HomeAway

Stunning setting on a sheep farm/ranch

5 of 5
This place absolutely knocked my and my group's socks off. It was simply amazing. The beauty was outstanding, likely one of the prettiest places I have ever stayed. The house was perfect, and had EVERYTHING we needed. WIFI was included, along with washer and dryer. Even had washing detergent. The view from the living area and bedrooms is to die for. All linens were included. Donna was an excellent resource to deal with in arranging the visit and even called during our stay to make sure everything was going well. I would recommend this place beyond a doubt, 1000% Kudos to the owners for allowing others to experience New Zealand in such a way!
