Perfect Holiday Home Away from Home

5 of 5
Villa La Jolla is a home away from home in every sense of the meaning. No detail has been overlooked in the design, layout and amenities of this beautiful villa. Set amidst a breaktaking combination of gardens including the fabulous courtyard for BBQing, plus sand beach and coral coastline boasting breathtaking views the pride of ownership was quite evident and great care was taken to preserve the natural vegetation throughout the property. We took lovely strolls down the beach in both directions, snorkelled and kayaked right out front, we would rinse off in the outdoor shower and take a refreshing dip in the oversized pool. As the evening progressed we would turn on the spa/hot tub section of the pool and watch the sunset complete with cocktail, the outdoor lighting only enhances the natural beauty of this setting. We never wanted for anything at La Jolla. We are seasoned holiday renters and find many places lack properly outfitted kitchens.... the gourmet kitchen at La Jolla contains everything one needs to cook and entertain although admittedly we enjoyed the meals Fiza had prepared for us on many nights. The mattresses and bedding are wonderfully comfortable and the spacious master ensuite an absolute treat, plus it was so refreshing to take a wake up swim straight from the master bedroom each morning. When we needed supplies we simply walked a short distance to the general store/bottle shop/petrol/ATM. We stayed for 9 days and honestly never wanted to leave! We would highly recommend Villa La Jolla to anyone!

The ONLY place to stay. YOU won't be disappointed

5 of 5
Four of us (two couples) met the owner and she is delightful. She gave us tips and ideas for the area and was spot on. Easily found this lovely gem with her great directions. The house was very clean and orderly but comfortable. The Thermal Hot Pool was wonderful especially after a full day of activities. Every amenity possible was available and we used them. Great refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, all the utensils, cookware, dishes one could possibly need. We cooked many breakfasts in and many dinners. Great having a gas grill to cook freshly caught trout. The bedrooms were small but the beds were very very comfortable with lovely linens. The shower was big and had great water pressure. So nice to have washer and dryer. Even a clothes line if you wanted to hang your clothes to dry. Plenty of starter supplies for your needs. Local stores well stocked, nice butcher shop in town, Farmer's Market on Saturday, golf nearby and it was a lovely course. Convenient location for side trips to Napier, close to Huka Falls. The view from the living room and outside picnic table was to die for with fabulous sunsets; different every night. One can see why their family enjoys spending holiday at this home. Lots of books and brochures to browse. Lots of opportunity to fish, hike, explore, and close enough to drive to glow worm caves and thermal spas. This location could not have been better. Wifi was available as was a nice flat screen TV. Very open feeling of place with lots of light and beautiful grounds both in the front and back. Not to mention the very convenient parking right out side the door. The area was particularly quiet. Heather was wonderful in responding to any questions we had during our planning stage and was very accommodating. She was prompt in her responses and offered suggestions. If I could dream again of coming to Taupo I would stay here as it felt like "home" and was easy. Our stay was eight nights and it was much too short. Book your stay here and you won't be disappointed.Aloha Heather and Mahalo for a wonderful stay. * Submitted: Apr 19, 2014 * Stayed: Mar 2014 * Source: HomeAway

Fabtastic stay at Rainforest Estate

5 of 5
Can't say enough about the great week we spent at Rainforest Estate. The pictures of the property tell it all--it is absolutely beautiful. Modern decor, impeccably maintained inside and out. The location is ideal as it affords you easy access to the beach, Port Douglas, Daintree Rainforest, and even the Queensland Outback. There is so much to do and see in the area that the week went by in a flash. You will want to reserve extra time there so you can just stay on the property a few days to soak up the beauty! Christine and Allen were the most gracious and courteous hosts we have dealt with in a long time. We arrived late on a Sunday evening (at almost midnight) but they insisted on greeting us personally at the Estate when we arrived to get us settled in which was great. They were extremely helpful as far as recommendations for things to do in the area as well as places to eat. They arranged several of our day trips directly with contacts they know. One of the highlights of our stay was a day trip to the Queensland Outback that they arranged--Allen actually was our tour guide (and driver--which was most appreciated given some of the "roads" we travelled over--a true Outback experience!) while Christine prepared an evening cookout near the property that was topped off by a local singer who played Australian folk songs for us by campfire--a truly magical day! You will be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful place to stay than Rainforest Estate, or a more friendly couple to rent from than Christine and Allen!!
