My husband and I stayed at Casa Colibri, along with our 8 month old baby, for one week in April 2014. We were sent a handbook prior to arriving, which gave us information about the house and surrounding area, which was very helpful to have both before and during the trip. The house and grounds are beautiful; the photos just cannot do it justice. It was a little bit strange at first to stay in a house so open to the elements, but we got used to it quickly and it was actually very private and felt very safe. The house is right on the beach and we could feel the rumble of the waves crashing in, and were lulled to sleep at night by the sound. It is impossible not to relax here. The house had all the amenities a family could want, and the nearest town, Puerto Escondido has a grocery store that is easy to find, and many restaurants. A note to families with small children - the pool is right off the palapa and is not gated, which makes for good visibility but also easy access. Half of the pool is shallow, which was great for our baby, who we frequently took in for a cool down dip. We would not hesitate to recommend Casa Colibri to other families, or anyone wanting a relaxing escape in 'real' Mexico. We ourselves hope to stay here again in the future.
