A dream

5 of 5
I visited Casa Hola Ola for one week with friends and had an incredible time. It was everything that I hoped it would be (and more) and I truly felt like I was in heaven the entire time! The highlight for me was probably the natural environment - it is in a beautiful part of the world, impossible not to feel very relaxed there! The house is absolutely stunning and is equipped with every amenity. It is very spacious and very comfortable, with lots of beautiful natural light. It is located right on a beautiful private beach with a gorgeous view. I really enjoyed relaxing in the hammocks on the observation deck and swimming in the pool (two discrete outdoor showers made it very easy to switch from swimming in the ocean to floating in the pool). The bedrooms were very spacious and pretty, and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and kind and kept the house extremely clean. The food was INCREDIBLE, made by the very talented Lumi with lots of fresh Oaxacan ingredients. There was lots of variety in the meals that were prepared and they were always delicious. There were lots of fun activities and areas to explore nearby. I particularly enjoyed surfing, exploring the local market, and a dolphin watching tour. All in all it was a wonderful vacation.

A Magical Oasis in Oaxaca

5 of 5
Our month at Casa Xano Xano was a soul-nourishing experience. Not only is the property fantastic but the artist-owners really know the area. We would give it more than 5 stars if we could. The apartment is beautifully decorated with sultry colors and local folk art in a lushly landscaped hillside setting. It is also comfortable and practical: queen-size beds and enough pillows for a good night’s sleep, kitchen well-stocked for cooking , dependable wifi, bookshelves full of fiction, non-fiction and guidebooks, many pleasant indoor and outdoor places to read, work and eat, decent lighting, lots of closet space, several outlets to plug in our electronics and an outdoor pool & lounging chairs. Our favorite space was a covered outdoor living/dining room with fireplace and wood for evening fires – perfect for cocktails and entertaining. It was put it to good use when two different sets of friends joined us. We enjoyed exploring the village and back-roads of San Augustin Etla, which is 25 minutes drive from ciudad Oaxaca. Fair warning: steep roads, some unpaved, bring sturdy footwear. Visiting the region’s outdoor markets became a favorite activity and coming home to experiment with fresh, local ingredients a nightly ritual. The advice we got from Penny and Victor helped us find the best guide (Sebastien) and enhanced every aspect of our trip. We will never forget our excellent experience at Xano Xano.

An oasis in the city

4 of 5
After a cold, long winter we were excited to be escaping for 10 days. This was our first time renting a home and it was a wonderful experience. Cherie your information and quick response to any enquiries really eased our minds. The home is exactly as portrayed in the pictures, spotlessly clean and I have to say the swimming pool was the highlight for us! The beautiful lush greenery with the parrots chattering in the background was like an oasis from the heat of Puerto Escondido. The house is located very centrally so it is so easy to get to the various areas of town with the grocery store (Super Che) a few blocks and even the wonderful local market within walking distance. There is some noise from vehicles as it is a busy area but you can't be in the hub of things without hearing some traffic. With that said the house is very private so although you can hear movement you can't see it nor can you be seen. The housekeeper is lovely, our Spanish is weak making it a little tricky communicating but Spanish is the native language so that is our problem and not a reflection of the property. In addition there is typically an on site manger who speaks English but he happened to be away during our stay. Cherie called to welcome us and looked after any little quires we had open arrival. Hope to be able to return one day!
