Wonderful week in Ross Roost!

5 of 5
My husband and I had such a great time in Nova Scotia! The cottage was exquisite, as beautiful (if not more!) than what the pictures showed and close to Peggy's Cove, where we used to get our morning "latté". It really felt like home away from home; the decoration, the fully equipped kitchen, the amazing bathroom, all was perfect. We definitely plan on going back in the coming years. We recommend this property in a heartbeat! Plus, the owner is extremely nice. :-) Don't miss Rhubarb restaurant, just a few minutes walk from the cottage, delicious food and a bakery in the back of the restaurant. One thing we loved (amongst many), was sitting on a rock on the beach and just enjoy watching the ocean. There is also a wooden beach for more comfort. ;-)

Better than you could imagine!

I cannot recommend this house highly enough. The pictures-which are beautiful-do not do it justice. You are perched on the top of a stunning bay with daily visits from curious squirrels, blue herons, and one night a seal who sat on an outcropping of rock while the sun went down. All rooms have beautiful views, either of the sea or the groves of pines that line both sides of the space, and the private beach is a quick two-minute walk down a wooden stairway. Peggy's Cove is right down the road (with great ice cream--Rhubarb Restaurant is also worth a try), and historic Lunenburg and Mahone Bay are an hour away. Further still, but worth the trek, was Shelburne and Birchtown-the last the site of the Black Loyalist colony that came to Halifax after the American Revolution. If you make it to Shelburne, don't miss the Charlotte Lane Cafe....one of the best meals we had in Canada. But you can also just spend days relaxing and looking out over the water. Every day brings a different vista. We'll be back. Often. It was beautiful in the sun, in the fog, even in blustery wind with the cozy wood-burn fireplace crackling inside.

Description Doesn't Do it Justice

This is a wonderful home, well-appointed on a beautiful location with access to a small beach on one side and lots of sight-seeing all around. Near to more elaborate explorations (Peggy's Cove, etc), but right on top of a few short walks for our young boys.
