Breathtaking Cape Breton

5 of 5
The Potter's Cottage in the Margaree Valley on Cape Breton Island is a wonderful respite on a magical isle. The cottage is immaculate with a well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, down comforters and located on a beautiful piece of property. After a day taking in the incredible scenery, coming "home" to the cottage is a relaxing end to the day. The cottage is just off the Cabot Trail and provides easy access for driving to all points of interest. Stewart provides excellent suggestions for daily itineraries. The Co-op and Petrol station are close by as well as the Dancing Goat for delicious breakfast, lunch and bakery items. Bell is the lovely co-owner and an extremely talented potter and artist. Her detailed black and white nature drawings enhance her graceful pottery. Bell and Stewart are gracious hosts and make you want to return.

A Comfortable Getaway

4 of 5
We love Porters Place. Feels like home and all the basic comforts. The view is beautiful. We have stayed there for 4 years now. My only suggestion would be to make parking clearer as if you have 2 cars and someone visits you, apparently it is shared parking and driveway and it is not quite clear where it is acceptable to park. This can be confusing as we obviously want to be respectful of others property.

Gorgeous solitude

5 of 5
This beautiful, comfortable little house rests on the most improbable of beaches: a tidal, saltwater bay where the water levels rise to provide excellent swimming and kayaking, and fall to show places to fish and go clamming, while the swim beach remains. You can kayak across to the mighty pebble beach facing the open sea for smashing waves and wild flights of sea birds, rest in the sun among the pines, and cook fresh halibut in the evening. Lockeport is just over the harbor past the property's driveway, and it is an easy drive down to Shelburne for shopping and sightseeing -- if you need any sight more than the amazing views from this house! Can't wait to come back. Thank you.
