The property was modern and clean yet rustic

5 of 5
Thank you, Heather and Mark! We had a wonderful time in Cape Breton, due in large part to our very comfortable and cozy accommodation. The cottage is lovely: clean, modern, with a nice cabin feel. It is a mixture of rustic charm and modern convenience. From the bright sunny rooms to the convenient and functional kitchen to the two well-appointed bathrooms (one with washer/dryer), this cottage was the perfect "home-away-from-home" for us - it will work well for families or individuals. The location made it easy to walk to the grocery store, the coffee shop, the golf course and the beach where we found lots of beautiful sea glass. This cottage also makes it a perfect jumping off point to explore Cape Breton. We hiked the Skyline Trail one day and made a trip to Baddeck on another day. I would highly recommend this accommodation to any of my friends and hope to stay there again one day. We didn't get to see our hosts but we did meet Donalda, who answered our questions and made us feel very welcome.

Words of a Delighted Temporary Resident

5 of 5
I had the pleasure of staying at this cottage in the fall, when the forested hills of the opposite lakeshore were heavily decked in colour and when evening fires in the glass-fronted woodstove easily extended the warmth of days beyond the sunsets. Roughly a century old at its core, but neatly equipped with life's modern conveniences, this cottage provides both rustic charm and satisfying comfort. The kayaking experience on Folly Lake and the wicked fish-n-chips at nearby Masstown Market are not to be missed! Stay here and you'll want to move here.

Tranquility in Nova Scotia

5 of 5
Recently we had the good fortune to spend a week at Sandy Cove Cottage in Chester, Nova Scotia. It couldn't have been more pleasant! First of all, the setting is peaceful and idyllic. The cottage sits a few feet from a quiet cove. It is surrounded by pine and oak trees with an open field of tall grasses and wildflowers nearby. Wildlife abounds. During our visit we saw deer, wild turkeys, lots of land and sea birds, rabbits and squirrels. I am told there are often foxes as well. The views of the bay from the dock are spectacular. You can also take in the scenery from the flat roof of the ell of the cottage or maybe just find a lounge chair for an afternoon snooze. The cottage is well-furnished. There are three comfortable bedrooms, a full bath, a small but well-equipped kitchen, a dining area and two sitting rooms with comfortable chairs. For entertainment there are books, TV, CD/DVD players and radio. The cottage is heated for the cooler times. It is equipped with both dishwasher and washing machine. In addition to the many hours we spent enjoying the tranquility of the cottage, we also enjoyed sampling the fare at the several restaurants in the Chester area as well as perusing the art galleries which offer both paintings and ceramics among other creations. The golf course is scenically located and open to the public. An added plus is the friendly, outgoing nature of the hosts as well as their constant attentiveness to needs or requests for information. In short, we highly recommend this venue for a wonderful stay in Nova Scotia.
