A little Piece of Heaven - Sandy Cove Cottageanxio

5 of 5
A perfect spot to rest and relax nestled on the water at Chester Basin. The cottage is so cozy and well equipped and you are free to use the boats at the dock' Where else can you open your eyes in the morning and look out at the water where a sailboat swings on it's mooring. Walking trails through pines and maples are a great way to start your day. The owners are on the property and are anxious to provide local knowledge if asked. The quaint towns of Lunenburg and Chester are close and provide a variety of shops and museums This is the spot for a truly peaceful and restful vacation and one which will draw you back time after time. Comfort and water front views in the pines

5 of 5
We were lucky to find this place at the last minute for our final 3 days in Nova Scotia. The cottage is located on a small salt water inlet just southwest of Halifax about an hour and 20 minutes from the airport. The photos do not do it justice. The cozy one-bedroom cottage is located water front with nearly 180 degree views of the water. There are 3 different decks from which to view the water: one sunny, one for eating near the grill and one that sits back near a storage shed for more shade. The pine trees in front of the house along with two empty lots on either side give lots of privacy. The place was clean and well-kept and the kitchen well supplied. The washer and dryer were convenient. The queen sized bed was very comfortable in the small but cozy single bedroom. There was a Murphy bed in the main living space for extra sleeping, if required. There was a canoe and life vests for guest use. Michelle, the owner, was friendly and gave us lots of information about the area so we could decide where we wanted to spend our time. She also showed us a water front deck at the edge of the property where we could go to see sunset views the best. This was a great location to tour Lunenberg, Peggy’s Cove and other nearby waterfront towns and villages. Michelle does not post an on line calendar, so you need to call about availability. Definitely would recommend this to friends and family and would love to return for a longer stay!

Good view from barebones but functional cottage

4 of 5
My husband and I stayed in BayCroft Cottage for a week. The photos on VRBO are mostly accurate (Since they were taken, a hot tub replaced two of the Adirondack chairs on the deck. And the dining table we had seated 4.). The view of the water is good and as pictured. This cottage was plenty roomy for us. Sleep quality was excellent as the location is very quiet and the mattress on the larger bed is very good. The shower was nice, too. There is nothing fancy about this cottage at all. Everything is clean and functional, but totally low-end in terms of cost, e.g. Linoleum, countertops, refrigerator, microwave. In fact the microwave is so low-end that it is only 550 watts, which makes it only marginally useful. The one big deficit in this cottage is the lack of decent pots and pans and other kitchen supplies. There were two frying pans -- one very small and one that was truly wrecked and terminally greasy. Only two real mugs. No pot holders. Really, I rated this property as a "4" rather than a "5" based primarily on the furnishing of the kitchen. Beware if it is your intention to cook real meals in this kitchen. You should also know that the lake access at the bottom of the driveway (and across the road) does not include a dock. You simply have to scramble over some small boulders to get to the water.
