Back to Nature

5 of 5
This lovely cottage is quaint and rustic. But has everything you would want. The location was prefect for us. We hiked the National Park every day. Lucked out the weather was great. Ate seafood almost every day. Even got some live Lobsters. The kitchen is well equipped. My husband loved the real charcoal BBQ. Wished we booked 2 weeks instead of 1, it was that nice. Clean and very cozy. Also great for our other hobbies, wild mushroom hunting and geocaching. Thanks Stewart and Bell for amazing time. Ken and Stephanie

Wonderful retreat in a unique part of Cape Breton!

5 of 5
Bay St. Lawrence is a bit off the Cabot Trail and a worthwhile detour... all of Cape North is spectacular - beaches, vistas, whale-watching, a reprieve from the bugs, beautiful sunsets. The cottage was better than we expected - quite spacious, adequately appointed, clean and comfortable. But the inside pales in comparison to the exterior -- this cabin has THE BEST view in BSL. The entire bay is at your feet. We saw pods of pilot whales from the deck (with the cabin binoculars)! Surrounded by wild blueberries and wild flowers. There's no wifi, or cable, but you'll never be bored - it's a true getaway. Easy access to the co-op grocery/liquor store, the Hut is down the road for hotdogs, and the docks are nearby for crab and lobster in the summer. There is no laundry at the cabin (or the local community center), so pack for your stay or be prepared to travel farther. Our favorite beach was Cabot Landing. And Meat Cove is not to be missed.

Charming, clean and well-maintained

5 of 5
We rented the house for 1 week in August. We were 2 couples traveling to Cape Breton for the first time. The house was very charming, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped to prepare meals. The owner’s Roger and Sandra were very helpful and generous throughout our stay. They greeted us with a bottle of wine and some homemade jam. The house is directly located off of Cabot Trail, a short walk to the beach and approximately an hour from to the Highlands Park. If you enjoy hiking their property offers several hours of great bush trails right out the back door. Roger suggested a ceilidh at a tea house near by. They happen twice a week. We attended one, it was fantastic Celtic music performed by local artists (fiddlers). Lobster season ended in July. We wanted fresh lobsters so we bought some from a local restaurant in Baddeck. If you are driving to Cape Breton, we recommend bringing a cooler and doing groceries before getting to Cape Breton. We did our groceries in Antigonish, it’s cheaper than in Cape Breton. We highly recommend this rental and would definitely go back!
