Wonderful stay - beautiful house

5 of 5
We were 2 adults and 5 children staying here for the week. We had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and was very comfortable. The view from the front deck is spectular and a wonderful place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. There were many places for everyone to gather as a group and also to find corners of privacy. The house is wonderfully secluded, but yet very conveniently located to Cheticamp when we wanted to venture out. We took advantage of the kayaks and explored the area right in front of the house. We saw seals and other wildlife. The walk up the hill behind the house has breathtaking views of the Saint Lawrence Bay. The blueberries were out when we were there and so the kids had fun gathering them and I made a few pies in the well stocked kitchen. We scavenged for sea glass along the rocky shore below the house and had much success finding many treasured pieces. One morning we were greeted with a bald eagle perched on the outbuilding next to the house. We enjoyed the Zodiac whale watching tour, recommended by George and Marianne. We got to see a 70 foot fin whale while we were out. We also spent time up in Cape Breton Highlands NP, saw moose, took hikes, and enjoyed the scenery. Cheticamp is a beautiful little town with a european feel which we enjoyed. We were able to bike there from the house. We ate dinners mostly in at the house, but the few times we ventured out, we enjoyed the local fare. We would definitely rent this place again. In fact, our kids are constantly asking when we're going to go back. They loved it so much. The basement/den area was perfect for them to hang out in and well-equipped for movies/games, etc. They enjoyed having their own space down there. Before we got there Marianne made sure we had everything we needed and included lots of helpful information in her welcome packet. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. I was just creating my photo book from our vacation and was reminded of what wonderful time we had. We look forward to sometime staying again!

Tranquility in Nova Scotia

5 of 5
Recently we had the good fortune to spend a week at Sandy Cove Cottage in Chester, Nova Scotia. It couldn't have been more pleasant! First of all, the setting is peaceful and idyllic. The cottage sits a few feet from a quiet cove. It is surrounded by pine and oak trees with an open field of tall grasses and wildflowers nearby. Wildlife abounds. During our visit we saw deer, wild turkeys, lots of land and sea birds, rabbits and squirrels. I am told there are often foxes as well. The views of the bay from the dock are spectacular. You can also take in the scenery from the flat roof of the ell of the cottage or maybe just find a lounge chair for an afternoon snooze. The cottage is well-furnished. There are three comfortable bedrooms, a full bath, a small but well-equipped kitchen, a dining area and two sitting rooms with comfortable chairs. For entertainment there are books, TV, CD/DVD players and radio. The cottage is heated for the cooler times. It is equipped with both dishwasher and washing machine. In addition to the many hours we spent enjoying the tranquility of the cottage, we also enjoyed sampling the fare at the several restaurants in the Chester area as well as perusing the art galleries which offer both paintings and ceramics among other creations. The golf course is scenically located and open to the public. An added plus is the friendly, outgoing nature of the hosts as well as their constant attentiveness to needs or requests for information. In short, we highly recommend this venue for a wonderful stay in Nova Scotia.

peaceful, beautiful, impeccably clean home

5 of 5
I am typically not compelled to write reviews but our stay in this home was so wonderful that I am moved to comment. The owners were incredibly thorough and helpful throughout the booking process and through our vacation itself. This makes a big difference when staying in a vacation rental! This home is truly a retreat: peaceful, comfortable and beautiful; it exceeded our expectations. Upon arrival, everyone noted how impeccably clean the home was - there was literally not a trace of dust to be found (and I have very high standards when it comes to cleanliness due to some significant environmental allergies.). The home was well outfitted with supplies and nothing was overlooked. The location is perfect just across the bay and within driving distance to various attractions including national parks, beautiful beaches and historic towns. Our family enjoyed a memorable and relaxing holiday thanks to the owners. I can't recommend this home highly enough!
