The perfect house in the perfect location

          5 of 5
I had the wonderful opportunity of spending 4 weeks in this lovely home. I was on my own with my 2 serene pets for most of my stay as my husband had to work in Ga. I have never felt safer or thoroughly welcomed. The house was SO clean and well equipped, I didn't have to buy or bring a thing. Plenty of linen, towels galore. The short non trafficked ride into Halifax was a breeze and I strolled through some of the best museums I've ever enjoyed. As a history buff, Nova Scotia is loaded. The rides each day throughout the South Shore were amazingly beautiful, the fish was the freshest, farmers markets divine. Went sea kayaking in Lower Prospect, biked on Rails to trails in Tantallon, and whale viewing, long trip but so worth it, on Briar Island twice! Humpback were close enough to touch, truly awesome, took my breath away. The tourist center right there seemed like they were dedicated to me having the time of my life. They were amazing and the trip would have been 1/2 again without them. I was able to immerse myself in the life there because the people are so amazingly kind. I never felt the tourists that were yards away at the lighthouse, I barely knew anyone else was near me. Go and enjoy, it's an incredible experience.

The lovely (and luxury) retreat at Peggy's Cove!

          5 of 5
To say "we love our vacation" is an understatement! Since my cousin madde all the arrangement, we had no ideas what to expect--he is very well travelled and has good taste so my husband and I trust him completely--all we know was it's a big house by the water. When we turned into the driveway, my first thought was "so lovely and quiet, perfect", as we started walking toward the back yard, to the boat dock, the view just took our breath away! I was thinking even if the house is not as we expected inside this back view is totally worth it! I have to admit that prior to our road trip, I didn't have time to pull up the pictures of the house--extremely busy at work--but again, I trust my cousin choice and taste so I never worried about accommodation. The house is awesome, mostly brand new and well kept, everything we need was there. We couldn't think of anything that we needed and they didn't have. The Whitmans were such thoughtful people and very kind, they made available everything they have for our use--too bad none of us know how to sail as there was a gorgeous sail boat sitting in the front! The house has automatic code lock, so one night we came back from an outing and accidentally locked out, we call the Whitmans and within 35' they were there to rescue us! The house accommodated 9 adults and one toddler (our family) very comfortably. There's a little charming cottage in the back that could have accommodate another couple. We wish that we have another week to spend there. I can just on the back porch to read for hours and watch the sun set. The house is located about 10' away from Peggy's Cove Light House--famous attraction, and 35' from Halifax. About 30' away (can't remember highway's name) there's a series of beautiful beaches--we especially love Baywater Beach, even on a cool cloudy day, absolutely breathtaking! You can buy fresh lobster (fairly cheap around $7.50/lb) from a dock only 5-7' away; also several grocery stores nearby, very convenience. We totally fell in love with Peggy's Cove! This is the best family vacations I've had ever! We hope to come back at the same time next year,! The Truongs Family

A gem on the Nova Scotia coast

          5 of 5
My wife and I, together with 3 other couples, rented Sunrise at Sol Point for a week this summer. We all had high expectations and these were greatly surpassed. The gorgeous home is even better than described, and the lovely pictures don't do the property justice. It is spacious, clean, and wonderfully equipped with new stainless steel appliances (including a wine fridge!). The views are spectacular. The building has been lovingly rebuilt to resemble the original fish plant, so it fits the local ecology to a tee. There's lots to do in the area - we spent happy days hiking, sightseeing (Peggy's Cove is next door; Halifax, Grand Pre, and Lunenburg are easy drives), cycling and kayaking. We enjoyed seeing bald eagles, seals, herons, and other wildlife. We would definitely recommend this spot to all who love spectacular coastal settings and the highest quality accommodations. And by the way, there is a cable internet connection that was not advertised, so came to us as a pleasant suprise.
