Breath taking

I'm originally from the Belle Cote area, so when the opportunity came to be, to drag a few of my city friends to the country, this was the place that we made our home. It was our home for only a week, but a million memories were made, and I'm sure 80% of them were on the screened in porch over looking the stunning Margaree river. The screened in porch had a mind of it's own and pulled us in day and night, all day for some of us. The magical feel of sitting in a rocking chair with a coffee/drink/beer in hand was serene, you would never leave this place and say you weren't relax, that would be impossible. Each night a beautiful meal was prepared in the old country kitchen, and of course the bbq which is placed out back right by the door, making it easy to get to get your food to and from. The rooms were comfortable and clean, almost each couple had their own bathroom. Although I will admit, besides being in bed, I was rarely in the house. Now this was my first visit to this house back in 2013. In 2014 I came back and brought along my family members from the US. This was no longer a week long get away with adults only, now we had kids to consider. This house is perfectly build for a family with kids. The large kitchen separates you from the deck and the living room that has the TV. Not only can the adults sit down and have a nice quiet evening, you literally can not hear the children, playing their games or watching movie. And if you want to kick the kids out of the house and get fresh air, it has huge outdoor space and the house is set back from the road, so there is no worries of cars, when a car arrives you have plenty of time to see it and move out of the way. If you love nature this is a great location, from morning to night something was happening, from the bald eagle flying by and perching on it's tree, watching the fish jump, to animals coming out to the sandbar in the middle of the river. One day we watch a man walk out of the water onto the sandbar from the other side of the river, you can see the kayaks and boaters go by. All the amenities in the house are perfect we didn't need for anything. There was never a water issue, so showering was never an issue even though at any given time there was the max amount of people in the house. This place is perfect for anyone with a large family, or someone just wanting to bring friends to beautiful CB.

Magic in Margaree

5 of 5
To say that this little cottage is charming, welcoming, and perfectly placed in the quiet heart of Margaree would be an understatement. My brother and I had the privilege of spending a week here this past summer, and I can honestly say I have never had a more enjoyable, more perfect vacation experience. The cottage itself, tucked away on a quiet hilltop, exceeded our expectations. It was warm and inviting - giving us a sense of home despite our being 3,000 miles away. The upstairs loft provided the perfect place for restful, peaceful nights beneath the stars, and cozy naps during the day. I love to cook, and the kitchen proved to be more than up to the task of a little Texas cooking. It's obvious that the owners, Stewart and Bell, have made it a priority to maintain this property, and I have to say, they do a brilliant job of it. In addition, I say with great certainty that you will not find two more gracious, more welcoming, and more kind hosts than Stewart and Bell. Stewart made it a point to welcome us, and make us feel at home. He was incredibly understanding and accommodating - two features that were an absolute blessing. I highly recommend that you let him walk you through the map of the island. After listening to live music and eating excellent food at the Red Shoe Pub, or grabbing lunch and a pastry at the local Dancing Goat, you won't regret this decision at all! For those wishing for a little quiet and relaxation, the true gem of staying at Chimney Corner is the beautiful beach located just down the road. My brother and I spent every day down on the quiet stretch of sand in our little cove. It's a short two minute drive to the entrance, or in my brother's case, the perfect end point on the return from his morning run. You'll love the cool, crystal clear water, climbing the rocks up the hill, and the abundance of crustaceans you'll find scurrying along the ocean floor. If I haven't expressed my enjoyment enough at this point, allow me to say this - You won't find a sweeter, more intimate and peaceful vacation spot than this. An absolute gem in the heart of Margaree Harbor, and perhaps one of my favorite places on earth. Once you walk up to the top of that hill and overlook the ocean below, you'll realize this place is worth every penny. And if you listen hard enough, you might just hear Stewart at the top of that same hill saying, "Welcome home."
