Fantastic location

4 of 5
Just a few weeks ago my husband, 2 year old daughter and I spent 6 nights in Hubbards between visits with family on opposite ends of the province. We were looking for an ocean view in reasonable proximity to the city and this house delivered. First and foremost, the location is amazing. I wouldn't hesitate to say that this house is in one of the best locations of the area. Especially for people with young children, this house has a large yard and is on a private road off the main highway. It is just a few minutes from Queensland beach. There is a playground at the school and is only 3 minutes from the grocery store. It was perfect for our needs and deserves 5* for it's location. The house has more than enough amenities. There are 3 decks outside that allow for lots of family and friends to visit and enjoy the view. The kitchen is loaded with nice cutlery, dishes, pots and pans. It is very well equipped. The owner's artwork is tastefully displayed and suits the local seaside atmosphere. The decor is a bit dated but knowing that this was a family home, makes it comfortable, like visiting your grandparents place. I personally enjoyed looking through some of the century-old books. The pull out couch in the den may be from the 70s but my sister-in-law claims it to be the most comfortable hide-a-bed she's ever slept on. One of our favourite parts of staying at this vacation property was the wildlife. We spent a lot of time watching the resident groundhog from the deck with our daughter and had a few knocks on the patio door (really, this happens) from Billy the seagull who needed some breakfast. These are just a few of the little things that made this property great. The only improvements that we would suggest would be to de-clutter a bit and clear some surfaces for guests to place their things. For us, with a small child, there were a few too many pieces of furniture. We appreciate a bit more open space for play. Lastly, upgrading the charcoal BBQ to a propane grill ($100 from Walmart is all it would take) would allow guests to utilize the outdoor space more efficiently for cooking and entertaining. Overall we had a fantastic time and could have spent another week (or the rest of the summer) relaxing at this property.
