Wonderful stay - beautiful house

5 of 5
We were 2 adults and 5 children staying here for the week. We had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and was very comfortable. The view from the front deck is spectular and a wonderful place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. There were many places for everyone to gather as a group and also to find corners of privacy. The house is wonderfully secluded, but yet very conveniently located to Cheticamp when we wanted to venture out. We took advantage of the kayaks and explored the area right in front of the house. We saw seals and other wildlife. The walk up the hill behind the house has breathtaking views of the Saint Lawrence Bay. The blueberries were out when we were there and so the kids had fun gathering them and I made a few pies in the well stocked kitchen. We scavenged for sea glass along the rocky shore below the house and had much success finding many treasured pieces. One morning we were greeted with a bald eagle perched on the outbuilding next to the house. We enjoyed the Zodiac whale watching tour, recommended by George and Marianne. We got to see a 70 foot fin whale while we were out. We also spent time up in Cape Breton Highlands NP, saw moose, took hikes, and enjoyed the scenery. Cheticamp is a beautiful little town with a european feel which we enjoyed. We were able to bike there from the house. We ate dinners mostly in at the house, but the few times we ventured out, we enjoyed the local fare. We would definitely rent this place again. In fact, our kids are constantly asking when we're going to go back. They loved it so much. The basement/den area was perfect for them to hang out in and well-equipped for movies/games, etc. They enjoyed having their own space down there. Before we got there Marianne made sure we had everything we needed and included lots of helpful information in her welcome packet. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. I was just creating my photo book from our vacation and was reminded of what wonderful time we had. We look forward to sometime staying again!

A week in Cheticamp

5 of 5
This rustic yet modern renovated Arcadian house is wonderful! There was everything we needed to make this a relaxing vacation week from cooking supplies to nice bed and bath linens and good books to read. We enjoyed being in this cozy cottage with its breathtaking views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, making fires each evening in the fire pit located off the front deck, star gazing, and just unplugging from everyday life. And of course the short walk to the beach for some wonderful swimming. We even took a whale watch cruise (and saw lots of whales). The cottage property has a spectacular view of Cape Breton National Park with its abundant wildlife and natural beauty. It is located in a quiet and private neighborhood just a short drive to Cheticamp where you can listen to wonderful music performed by local musicians. If you are looking for a relaxing time by the sea this is the place for you

Beautiful Views and Great House

5 of 5
My two travelling companions and I thoroughly enjoyed our week in this well-equipped and comfortable cottage on the Cabot Trail. The kitchen had everything we needed, the cottage was beautifully decorated and we felt at home immediately. The high-quality patio set was very comfy with great views of the coastline. Even better was watching spectacular sunsets from the rocking chairs on the front porch with full view of the water. The cottage's proximity to Cheticamp for shopping and restaurants, Baddeck, and the Cape Breton Highlands National Park make it the perfect place to stay.
