Going to Old Salt was like going home. This old and beautiful blue house sits on top of a hill with a panoramic view of the ocean and Tancook Island. There's one other home in view, but the property is secluded and quiet and a little bit of Nova Scotia heaven.
Although the house is charmingly old -- think narrow staircase and hallway and a few creaky floors -- it is outfitted with all the modern conveniences -- washer & dryer, dishwasher, gas grill, tv, internet -- everything to make your vacation easy. The house was immaculate when we arrived, with bouquets of flowers in the kitchen and dining room. There was even a fire laid in the fire pit outside, because, of course, the nights at Old Salt are as spectacular as the days with the Milky Way swirling above your head.
Joanne and Robert provided us with detailed information about the area, including where to eat, shop and sight see. We loved the Hubbards Farmer Market, Mahone Bay, Lunenberg, and Peggys Cove. We bought fresh seafood at Shatford's Lobster Pound and had great seafood chowder at Doris's Diner. Halifax was just a short drive away, and we loved the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Maritime Museum, and the Farmers Market.
We had a wonderful stay at Old Salt, and without a doubt, we'll be going back.
