Wonderful retreat in a unique part of Cape Breton!

5 of 5
Bay St. Lawrence is a bit off the Cabot Trail and a worthwhile detour... all of Cape North is spectacular - beaches, vistas, whale-watching, a reprieve from the bugs, beautiful sunsets. The cottage was better than we expected - quite spacious, adequately appointed, clean and comfortable. But the inside pales in comparison to the exterior -- this cabin has THE BEST view in BSL. The entire bay is at your feet. We saw pods of pilot whales from the deck (with the cabin binoculars)! Surrounded by wild blueberries and wild flowers. There's no wifi, or cable, but you'll never be bored - it's a true getaway. Easy access to the co-op grocery/liquor store, the Hut is down the road for hotdogs, and the docks are nearby for crab and lobster in the summer. There is no laundry at the cabin (or the local community center), so pack for your stay or be prepared to travel farther. Our favorite beach was Cabot Landing. And Meat Cove is not to be missed.

Lovely Place on Cape Breton

5 of 5
Field Stone Garden is perfect for one person or a couple. Right on the Cabot Trail about a 45-minute drive from Cape Breton NP, it's set well back from the road amidst an expansive garden that's occupied by several hummingbirds who regularly visit the feeder right outside the first floor window. The kitchenette and BBQ allow for preparation of basic meals. The friendly hosts, John and Marion, keep the place very clean and are extremely helpful (if desired) with everything from grocery store recommendations en route from Halifax to a glass of wine upon arrival and directions to the best local swimming holes. All of those things made for a great stay.

Quiet Luxurious stay with a wonderful view

5 of 5
This Lower level suite is beautifully furnished and very spacious. The view from the couches to the ocean is incredible. Having the private beach all to yourself is second to none. We loved having a fire every night on the beach. We always tried to end our sight seeing day early enough so we could go back to the suite and enjoy the surroundings and the quiet solitude. Thank you for making our stay in Cape Breton very enjoyable and relaxing. We highly recommend this suite you will not regret it.
