Best place I've been to in years

5 of 5
This cottage sits on 12 acres woods all around peace and quiet it's absolutely fabulous , wildlife all around you , sit around the campfire at night and watch the fireflies do there stuff , Kim and pat were very helpful as to where to get fresh lobsters yum yum. I live in the uk and when I found this cottage online I booked it right away glad I did as June July is a busy period for the tourist trade , you have a great view of the water . Baddeck or Sydney is 20 mins either way for shopping (beer) food etc the famous Cabot trail is mins away a must see it's beautiful. The owners bent over backwards to make sure we had a great stay , all in all brilliant. There was only one thing wrong, I had to come back to uk but I'll be back though make no mistake you'll love it, happy hold Graham.

Breath taking

5 of 5
I'm originally from the Belle Cote area, so when the opportunity came to be, to drag a few of my city friends to the country, this was the place that we made our home. It was our home for only a week, but a million memories were made, and I'm sure 80% of them were on the screened in porch over looking the stunning Margaree river. The screened in porch had a mind of it's own and pulled us in day and night, all day for some of us. The magical feel of sitting in a rocking chair with a coffee/drink/beer in hand was serene, you would never leave this place and say you weren't relax, that would be impossible. Each night a beautiful meal was prepared in the old country kitchen, and of course the bbq which is placed out back right by the door, making it easy to get to get your food to and from. The rooms were comfortable and clean, almost each couple had their own bathroom. Although I will admit, besides being in bed, I was rarely in the house. Now this was my first visit to this house back in 2013. In 2014 I came back and brought along my family members from the US. This was no longer a week long get away with adults only, now we had kids to consider. This house is perfectly build for a family with kids. The large kitchen separates you from the deck and the living room that has the TV. Not only can the adults sit down and have a nice quiet evening, you literally can not hear the children, playing their games or watching movie. And if you want to kick the kids out of the house and get fresh air, it has huge outdoor space and the house is set back from the road, so there is no worries of cars, when a car arrives you have plenty of time to see it and move out of the way. If you love nature this is a great location, from morning to night something was happening, from the bald eagle flying by and perching on it's tree, watching the fish jump, to animals coming out to the sandbar in the middle of the river. One day we watch a man walk out of the water onto the sandbar from the other side of the river, you can see the kayaks and boaters go by. All the amenities in the house are perfect we didn't need for anything. There was never a water issue, so showering was never an issue even though at any given time there was the max amount of people in the house. This place is perfect for anyone with a large family, or someone just wanting to bring friends to beautiful CB.

An amazing gem hidden in the hills of Cape Breton!

5 of 5
I visited Cabot Shores and was blown away by the hospitality, and the breath taking views of Indian Brook and the Cape Breton mountains. We were warmly greeted by the staff and the property was so cute! Unique yurts, an infra red sauna, snowshoes for rent and lots of trails to discover, meditation session in the morning and a warm fire and borrowing library at the lodge. We had the opportunity to have a communal meal with the owners, Barbara and Paul, which was an evening of great conversation and food! The atmosphere is very laid back and unique, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Great place to relax!
