Under the Tuscan Sun meets Cape Breton - A Hidden Gem on the Hill is what it should be called!

Where do we begin to share what we’ve enjoyed so much and will cherish for years to come. If you are travelling through or visiting the Cabot Trail please consider this one-of-a-kind home. Unfortunately 2500 characters is not enough. We are a young family (wife & I, 2 boys ages 8 & 10 plus 10 mos old baby girl). We only rent homes when travelling and have rented in Italy, Mexico, US & Canada. This is by far ONE OF THE BEST homes ever. Nick & Judy have spared no expense to ensure that EVERYTHING we could need was here. They come from the Food & Hospitality industry and it certainly shows once you settle in. There is ample space and my wife & I both commented how we wish our home looked just like this. It has character, charm and the warmth just like the people here. Some of the nicest people we have ever met travelling. There is plenty of warm water, linens, lighting along with every kitchen tool you’d need along with a variety of books, music and games. Nick’s original artwork also graces the walls throughout! We arrived just before the end of crab season and Judy introduced us to Merrill, a wonderful fisherman who prepared 5lbs of same-day caught crab for a special dinner on one of our nights. Nick made sure we knew all about the shops to check out nearby and the upcoming events in the community. We followed his advice and had another memorable night and experienced a ceilidh. What a night, the musicians were first-class and both have some serious touring experience with the likes of Yo-Yo Ma and Diana Krall to name a few. The boys LOVED the nearby pristine beach and hanging out at the Little River wharf to learn about crab fishing and leatherback turtles. We did several day trips to Baddeck and even Louisbough and found it relatively easy from here. Perfect place to retreat after a busy day. You are far away from major centres so stock up before arriving but no too worry if you forget something, Judy works in Baddeck and was more than happy to grab us anything we needed. There’s Wi-Fi, just the right speed so you don’t end up watching YouTube all night, but are able to connect with family and send a few emails. This is certainly not our last time here and we have already started talking about an extended stay here next summer. 6 nights was not enough. We don’t want to leave! Thank you Nick and Judy for giving us the privilege of enjoying your beautiful home and wonderful hospitality. You have created something special here on the Cabot Trail. BM
