Another reason to love Duck/Sanderling

5 of 5
We absolutely loved this property for several reasons. First, the location. It's sits on a beautiful treelined street which made us feel like we were the only people around. Nice and quiet, lots of birds singing among the trees. Just gorgeous. But then, just a short walk up the street and we were on the beach! The Sanderling Community is very pretty and well kept. The house itself had everything we needed. It is well kept and roomy. We enjoyed having our coffee on the deck each morning listening to the birds. It was very easy to deal with the owner and he was very responsive when we had questions. Just a perfect vacation all around.

Beautifully renovated beach house

5 of 5
This is our 3rd time staying at this house, but it was completely unrecognizable due to massive renovations. It used to be a cute little cottage in the woods, but now it's a gorgeous home with cathedral ceilings, huge bedrooms, and a lovely modern kitchen. There are 3 sitting areas: one small, one medium, one large, so like Goldilocks, one will be perfect for you. This also enables families to split up: adults can be watching a movie in one common area while kids play video games in another. You can tell that the house is actually used by the owners (instead of being solely a rental property) because it is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. One nice feature is that they leave a supply of basic items there, which you're welcome to use and replace if you use up the last of it. For example, we used some of their olive oil and dishwasher detergent, then left some charcoal and toilet paper for the next guests. The bedrooms are very large and comfortable, each with a HD TV and a beautiful, fully updated bathroom. There are hardwood floors throughout, granite countertops in the kitchen, and brand-new stainless steel appliances. For all intents and purposes, this is a completely new home in 2014, and it is magnificent. The owner is extremely responsive and easy to work with, and the house is spotlessly clean. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone who wants to stay in a perfectly-appointed home on the Outer Banks, and we plan to return every year.
