                              Week at Ocean Breeze

                              5 of 5
My family and I spent a week at Ocean Breeze in Rodanthe NC. The house is just as advertised. If you want to be close to the beach this is the house for you. We were at the beach everyday and you dont even have to set up camp there. The owner and his management team are a wonderful pair and they were very helpful along every step of the way. I would highly recommend this property for any family looking for a quite getway at the beach.

                              Ocean Front and Center

                              5 of 5
We've been renting houses at OBX for over a decade, and have learned that people have different styles of enjoying a beach vacation. For us, first is location, location, location. We want to feel the beach, not just see it. At Nirvana, you step off the deck stairs into the sand, and at high tide you’re just a few paces from submerging in the ocean. Picture rolling out of bed, pulling on your trunks, and in seconds, diving in for a cool swim, followed by a nice hot outdoor shower! As a surf nut, albeit a much older and less capable one, I was thrilled to find the house faced a sandbar offshore that created surfable waves daily, and also a following of surfers -- great amusement watching from the decks. Although there are other houses close on each side, Nirvana is a few feet forward of them which makes them not feel imposing when on the decks, and the closeness to the high tide mark pretty much guarantees your beach space right out front. The deck and the living space seating was more than adequate and comfortable for the four of us and the hot tub was well maintained. We cooked all our meals and found the kitchen quite practical for that -- new stone counters were appreciated. The house is not pretentious, but as comfortable as can be, and who could ask for more (well granted, some folks have other standards and a need for elegance). But for me, Nirvana is a fine beach house, with responsive owners who obviously have focused on providing what’s important. And nothing could be more elegant than the Atlantic which is there for you, up close and personal all the time. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nirvana.

                              Great week at Waves Village

                              5 of 5
My husband & I spent a week at Waves Village in June 2011, we stayed in the Kiteboarders Paradise unit. It was a very comfortable condo and plenty big for the two of us (bigger than our house actually). Bed was comfortable, shower was very nice. Kitchen had everything we needed and then some. Really enjoy watching sunsets and the kiteboarders from the balcony. Nice having our own hot tub (used that almost every night). Pool was also nice. I don't think it was heated but the days were warm enough that it stayed pretty warm. Great location, Rodanthe/Waves is so quiet compared to the Kitty Hawk/Kills Devil area. Nice to drive to Hatteras Lighthouse and the Wright Brothers Memorial. About a 10 minute walk to the beach but we didn't mind being on the sound at all, probably less sand there anyways. Forbes Gifts was our favorite shop on the property, great chocolates! Nick was very helpful throughout the booking process and leading up to our trip; he returned my calls/e-mails promptly. We aren't kiteboarders but that was never an issue. We did rent a kayak from next door. Nice to have so many amenities so close. Our only complaint was that the condo wasn't as clean as we had hoped/expected. I think someone with a dog had stayed last because there was quite a bit of hair on the floor. One the 1st night only 1 of the 3 beds had sheets we deemed clean enough. We washed a set the next morning and then it was fine but I'd check that out first thing. We had 3 beds to chose from but others might not be so lucky. That issue aside, I'd definitely stay here again if we are ever on the Outer Banks again. It was one of the most relaxing vacations we've ever taken!
