Comfy relaxing retreat in the mountains !!

4 of 5
The cabin is very comfy, clean and relaxing ! It sits in a great location among the trees and the views are great, though I imagine in the Fall/Winter when the leaves have fallen they would be even better ! The hot tub on the deck is really nice and relaxing ! The family enjoyed playing ping pong and foosball downstairs as well ! The kitchen has everything you need to prepare snacks or meals ! If you don't want to stay in check out nearby downtown Hendersonville for a bite to eat or get some frozen yogurt at Sweet Frog or check out the Mast General Store ! Lots of places to see and do ! Enjoy !

Another year, another best vacation ever!

5 of 5
This was our second year staying here. As before, the cottage was perfect and Cindy is the best. I would highly recommend this property to everyone. Location is awesome-right across from the ocean and the pier and within walking distance of several great restaurants and mini-golf. Tortugas Lie is one of our favorite restaurants, and we were pleased to see that the pier has added more outdoor seating on the ocean and improved their menu. It's just perfect. The outdoor shower is the best, we have plans to install one at our own house for use in the summer time. Already made reservations for next year and we are extending our stay. Can't wait to come back. Looking forward to this little gem makes Michigan winters a little more bearable. We check the live pier cam on a regular basis when we get homesick for Nags Head and Tale of a Mermaid! Thank you, Cindy!

A terrific multi-generational property

5 of 5
I originally was drawn to the property by the lovely photos and the mention of an elevator. We had rented at Nags Head a few years ago and my father-in-law was showing signs of a progressive disease that affected his balance, so all the stairs of a raised beach home were difficult. He died in the fall, but I thought since his older sister would be with us, an elevator might not be a bad idea and if nothing else, it'd be good for loading groceries. Then one party member broke a hip and another had knee surgery less than two weeks before our dates! So with two people on canes, the elevator was a god send! Everyone loved the kitchen; it was large enough for several to work together cooking or cleaning up. We ate every dinner together and everyone took a turn at the range...terrific! The dining space was awesome as well. We were able to sit 11 adults at the table and the kids at the kitchen bar counter. A mini-stereo with CDs and candle centerpiece made meals special. We had several days of chilly weather or rain, so my son and the knee replacement cousin really enjoyed the theater room. The second floor bedrooms worked out great and there was room for an extra cousin who hadn't made a hotel reservation: surprise, trundles! The upstairs master worked well for my immediate family, with the side bedroom and its own bath perfect for my teens. Lots of deck and other outdoor space let us spread out when we needed alone time. I enjoyed the pool area (although really only warm enough to get in one day--its heat pump not gas heat ) because the dune protect you from the wind. And the hot tub was a hit! The star is the beach and we walked it quite a bit. There's a restaurant at the pier to the north and we walked there one morning to earn our breakfast. The proximity to Sneads Ferry was a perk, as one set of relatives wanted a little more space and stayed in a hotel. It was also good for grocery and souvenir runs without treking too far. Wilmington is close enough to explore...we got to the Airlie Gardens on a breezy beach day, but it was warmer there. The azaleas, wisteria, dogwoods and tulips were in full bloom and beautiful! The sunrises were so lovely and the full moon shining on the water was just breathtaking. Beyond The Blue is a truly lovely property that a family of 13 from age 12 to 80 really enjoyed!
