Loved our stay!!!

5 of 5
In the nine years our group of 8 has been renting a NC mountain house this may be the best one yet. The owner was very invested in our having an exceptional stay. She was very attentive to all our needs. The house is oriented North/South with porches on the East/West sides so the guests can enjoy the gorgeous sunrise and sunset views. The porches and the views were the best. The layout of the house was great and was big enough to provided spaces for quiet time from the group. Virtually all needed household supplies for the kitchen, baths and laundry are provided. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. The bedroom and bath linens and towels were high quality ….. There is a wonderful seating area in the living area with generous seating for 8 or more. It was nice to have a game table, for games and puzzles in the room also. The gas fireplace was easy to light and operate. We would like to recommend Lands End Marina on Lake Nantahala for boat rentals. We rented a pontoon boat for the afternoon and the lake was beautiful. . We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon. Thank you Margaret.

High Country Retreat cannot be beat!

5 of 5
Our recent stay at The Lodge at High Country Retreat was nothing short of AMAZING! My husband and I surprised his parents for their birthdays with a trip to Asheville, where they'd never been. The Lodge was breathtaking upon arrival - serene, private, easy to get to and in a fantastic location. Our kids (ages 8, 9, and 11) in-laws (70 and 71) and our two dogs felt totally at home the moment we walked through the door. The open floor plan, cozy furniture and fireplace in the family room, spacious bedrooms with flatscreen tv's, beautifully updated bathrooms, and fully-stocked gourmet kitchen were all immaculate. The large deck was lounged on, held three-generation card games at the huge outdoor table, and numerous trips in and out of the incredible 8-person hot tub - not to mention the built-in firepit on the patio...s'mores were enjoyed by all! With both in-laws being somewhat physically limited, The Lodge offered several conveniences that made our trip even *that much more* enjoyable: walk-in showers, very few steps, and easy access to the hot tub. We hated to leave and cannot wait to return - this time with my parents perhaps?!

Return Visit to Summit Lodge

5 of 5
This was our second annual visit to Summit Lodge. Our stay was great as it was the previous year. The house is wonderful and we had a great time. Leaves had not changed, but it was still a great long weekend. We didn't see Bob this time and that was disappointing to our group - he always adds a great time to the visit. Hope to make it back again this year.
