THE GATHERING PLACE - A WONDERFUL PLACE

5 of 5
I loved the Gathering Place. It was secluded, the owner was absolutely as sweet as possible. The wifi was the best we have ever had so the computer tech really knew what he was doing The decorations were adorable, beds comfortable. I couldn't have been more pleased. My son went with us and he love the room downstairs. It was like his own apartment!! Just great! I have some cute photos, but haven't found a place to upload them as of yet. I really want to go back again!!

FABULOUS VACATION PLACE!

5 of 5
This cabin was a perfect place for our family of 12 (9 adults, 3 kids). Because it only sleeps 10, we brought sleeping bags/airbed and it worked out very well. The cabin is spacious and very comfortable. It looks like it is newly renovated and still in the process of being finished so the door for the downstairs bedroom is missing and some electrical outlets have not been covered properly. Ms. Lyn was great in helping us find her cabin. Stonecrest Pwy and Stonecrest Ct are NOT CLOSE by, so we suggest listing the coordinates of the cabin rather than just the address which GPS devices do not seem to recognize. Its location is beautiful, surrounded by trees and it is very quiet and safe. Because there is no internet access in the cabin (something I personally loved but my husband had a hard time with that) we had to drive to get internet access. The closest location we found was 10 minutes away, a Café that is only open from 10-3p.m.). The wi-fi signals seemed to be poor at the Café and other locations we visited in the near-by area. Again, not a problem for me at all! Our cellphone reception was on and off at the cabin. Lake Lure has wonderful places to enjoy close by. We visited Chimney Rock, Asheville (45 min drive), went fishing and swimming in Lake Lure, visited Carowinds Amusement Park in Charlotte (90 or so minute drive) and drove to the Smokey Mountains (a 2 hour drive) and saw the Cherokee museum and reservation. Our suggestions for improving the cabin stay would be to place a door in the downstairs bedroom, to cover all electrical outlets, to place some shelves in the showers and bathrooms for toiletries (which by the way, both bathrooms are very spacious and clean), and to have different/better towels. The towels had a funny smell and left us with lint every time we showered! This is a great location for an awesome price!! We would highly recommend this place for your next vacation!

HOME SWEET HOME AWAY FROM HOME!

5 of 5
Every wonderful thing said in the previous reviews of Creek 'n' Woods IV about the cabin and the hosts, Tom and Sue, is pure truth. Our family members gathered there last week for my parents' 60th anniversary and when we arrived we found home-made chocolate chip cookies and a scrumptious cake decorated especially for them. The kitchen was not only stocked with basic supplies and condiments, it was equipped better than my own at home. Tome and Sue have thought of everything you might need or want. The cabin is clean and neat and looks brand new. It has a great gathering space with a long dining table, but also private and semi-private spaces upstairs and downstairs. Sitting, rocking, on the deck, listening to the waterfall, we realized why the mountains are called "Smoky", as the mists rose and fell in the valley. Every room is lovingly furnished with fascinating pieces - among my favorites, the bathroom sink that is ceramic and glazed like a beautiful piece of pottery: the bed and table that are made from smooth honey-colored tree trunks; the clock in the dining area that defies description - you just have to see it! There is so much light coming in from the windows all around and it does truly feel like you have the mountain to yourself, but not in a scary way. There is a two-car garage which was handy on the couple of rainy days. The road to the cabin is steep but well maintained and we got a lot of exercise walking down with the kids to play soccer in the play area down below. Tom and Sue were but a phone call away when we needed them, with suggestions on where to shop or get a pizza or some medical attention. We went mining, rafting, ziplining, swimming in waterfalls, hiking, pubbing, and trolley touring around Asheville. We visited the Cherokee Museum and the Biltmore Estate, went to a Tourists base ball game, and much more, and every day we got to return to our comfortable mountain aerie. It was a wonderful place to be. No one wanted to leave at the end of our week, and we will certainly go back. I can't wait!
