Excellent beach home!

5 of 5
Our children are 19 and 21. For the past few years we have taken them on a trip for Christmas. We chose this beach front property at the advice of a friend who found a vacation rental on VRBO. While it is the offseason for beach going, we enjoy a quiet relaxing environment without commercialism, tourist traps, etc., to do "nothing" -The kids are fresh out of finals, and the parents need an escape from reality and the day to day grind. Walking into this house was immediately refreshing! It is so bright, so clean, and so accommodating. We didn't even need much of the space and could have easily brought another family along. (Which we may do during a peak season to share expenses, this would be a great place anytime of year) The views were spectacular, the sound of the rolling waves was wonderful to wake up to, and fall asleep to. We liked to sit and read and sip wine most of the time. The dolphins gave us a show every day! We sat on the balcony and watched the most gorgeous sunset while we ate our dinner on Christmas day. We walked the beach for miles, all the way to Fort Macon one day, watched the storm clouds touch the water, and stood in the sand under the stars in awe. It was so much better Than any gift we could open. Joyce was helpful telling us places to eat, as we are foodies, where to shop, and get groceries. Many places were closed due to the season, but we didn't miss a thing. There are quaint shops, an aquarium nearby, many good restaurants, (Circa 81 Tapas and cocktails was great!) Harris Teeter and the Food Lion were good for groceries. I will say, the top steps were so clean, they were very slick and my daughter fell down the top flight, and we ended up visiting the E.R. that night. (We didn't see an emergency kit or cold packs in the house, which I reccommend) She was sore, but ok. So wear slippers with grip or go barefoot, no socks! ? I also wished for a pair of binoculars to see across the ocean or just nib down the beach. ? My husband and I travel a lot, we've stayed in many places. This one was tops! We loved it! Do not hesitate to book this property!

Great Beach House!

5 of 5
The house was perfect for our group of 7 to enjoy a long weekend at the beach. It's very close to the beach, a great convenience store, and there's a great view of the Wright Brother's National Memorial from the living room windows! I'd highly recommend the beach house for your next vacation!

Summer Paw was gorgeous - inside and out.

5 of 5
I can't rave enough about Summer Paws! We've stayed in Corolla many times before but this was our first venture in to the Carova 4x4 area. It did not disappoint! I don't think I can ever vacation in the OBX area without staying in the 4x4 area. Talk about seclusion and peace! This house was immaculate and decorated beautifully. It's a perfect size for a small family group, not to mention pet friendly, which is hard to find in the OBX. The best part of the house was the screened in porch. No matter the weather, you can still enjoy getting fresh air and hearing the waves. You can see the ocean from the house which is always great. It's hard to say the screened in porch was the best part of the house because it offered so much. From the pool to the hot tub to the outside shower to the stainless steel appliances to the fully stocked kitchen to the wi-fi and flat screen with Dish, this house has all you could want. Laura, the property manager, was fantastic from the original booking till we checked out of Summer Paws. As we drove on the beach to reach the house for the first time, we took bets on how long it would take to see a wild horse. Most of us picked at least 24 hours. Within 5 minutes of turning onto the "road", to reach the house from the beach, we saw 4 horses. When you see horses in the pictures of the house, they actually get much closer than that on a daily basis. They could care less about humans. It's quite amazing! It's also very cool to have horses in your backyard and see tours coming by where people are paying extra money to view the horses. I loved seeing the tours go by. If you can rent out Summer Paws for a week, I would say jump at the chance, you won't be disappointed. It takes about a 1/2 hour to drive on the beach to reach the turn off for the house, so I would definitely recommend ordering groceries from deliverygenie.com so you don't have to go shopping and take the drive again as soon as you get there. That was the best decision, other than staying at Summer Paws.
