So Relaxing!

5 of 5
I know I am echoing what a lot of folks have said already, but this place is so RELAXING. We are just in Chapel Hill, so it's not a far ride up to the cabin, but that Raleigh traffic on a Friday will really stress you out after a busy week. The minute we got into the cabin and shut the door all our cares melted away. I spent the evenings just relaxing on the back porch (bundled up for an unseasonable cold March night), grilling meats, reading, playing scrabble with hubby and warming up by the fire of the chimenea. That Saturday day we had a great time exploring the property, with a mini chapel and "groom room" - a tiny cabin next door with manly decor. We also took time to feed the animals, feed the fish from the dock (they had poles and worms, but I didn't want to get slimy) and even driving to nearby Wake Forest to eat lunch at Shorty's Famous Hot Dogs. But the best part was just relaxing in or own secluded cabin on the water. It's not far from civilization, but it feels like it is, being tucked away at the back of the farm. My husband remarked that the best part was that you pretty much get no cell service or internet access. Everyone should get "off the grid." sometimes. It really makes a huge difference. Our hosts, Dawn and Jake, have deep roots on the farm that you can feel in the decor and history written in the guest book. We did feel like we were staying with family, only with total privacy. We'll definitely be back!
