We had a lovely family reunion here with 4 couples and one niece. There is only one other cabin nearby which is only faintly visible through the trees. The house felt very private, yet was also conveniently located .
We had ample room for gathering together (and also for privacy, when wanted). The house is nicely supplied for guests, even including sample size extra toiletries in case you might have forgotten something (which one of us did). We did not have any small children in our group, but I did notice that there is a baby gate for protecting toddlers from the top of the stairwell! The best feature: a terrific porch overlooking the woods, with plenty of furniture and tables and a pleasant mountain view. It was so restful to sit on the porch and read or chat while feeling pleasant breezes and listening to the sounds of nature! We saw a lovely sunset over the mountains from the porch one evening and enjoyed seeing the mist in the mountains in the morning. The weather was terrific while we were here, and we had such a great time playing games, doing puzzles, just visiting and catching up with each other, and enjoying some activities in the area! We enjoyed a dinner at Lucio’s Italian restaurant one evening, loved browsing antiques at Nestfeather’s downtown and the antiques mall at Whistlestop, had some lovely drives to Wayah Bald overlook and to Highlands, along with visits to Dry Falls, where you can take a short trail and actually go behind the waterfall, Bridal Veil Falls (right at the roadside) and Cullasaja Falls (viewed in the distance from a roadside pull-off ) on the way to Highlands, where we had ice cream at Kilwin’s Chocolate and Ice Cream. The only somewhat disappointing aspect of our stay at the cabin was that some of the lighter sleepers in our group could hear sounds from the bedrooms (talking, TV) of those staying up later in the common areas. Overall, however, the cabin was terrific and we all greatly enjoyed being together there!
